Sophie Wessex and Prince Edward showcased a little-known skill during their latest engagement and fans are eager for “more of this couple” after their impressive performance.
- The Earl and Countess of Wessex visited the islands of Jersey and Guernsey on May 9th as they marked the 77th anniversary of their liberation.
- Taking to the dancefloor for a traditional tea dance, the senior royals left fans stunned with their moves as they praised the “beautiful couple”.
- This royal news comes as the Queen cancels an important appearance for the first time in 59 years due to increasing mobility issues.
Just like many other senior members of the extended Royal Family, the Earl and Countess of Wessex have been observed stepping up to support the monarch even more as the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee 2022 celebrations draw nearer. Already this year Prince Edward and Sophie have undertaken a Caribbean Tour and it has now been announced they will visit Northern Ireland during the Jubilee weekend. And at their latest engagement that saw them showcase some serious skills that might well have remained unknown to many fans.
To mark the 77th anniversary of Jersey and Guernsey’s liberation from German Occupation during the Second World War, Sophie and Prince Edward visited both islands. And as they took part in one annual event it was clear that they know how to wow with their moves…

As revealed in an enlightening post shared across the Royal Family social media accounts, Prince Edward and Sophie viewed the annual Liberation Day parade in Jersey. Here they also met some of the Island’s Occupation Generation and learned more about their experiences living through this difficult time.
The couple then traveled to Guernsey where they put their best foot forward in the annual Liberation Day Tea Dance. Bringing generations together to celebrate, the Countess of Wessex showed off her lively dancing skills when she partnered ITV’s Judge Rinder. Whilst Prince Edward swayed elegantly to the music with another of the guests nearby.
And the video of their delightful performance shared on Twitter and Instagram Stories is one that’s gone down a storm with fans. So much so that one even remarked that Sophie in particular is becoming their “favorite royal”!

“Fantastic, more of this couple please, just lovely photos. Sophie’s got the moves like Jagger.😁”, one fan wrote excitedly, referencing the hit 2011 song by Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera.
Another echoed this sentiment, writing, “Prince Edward and Sophie have the dance moves! (Per the highlight post) You do not see dancing like that outside of tv programs nowadays.”
“I'm impressed with the Countess Sophie dance moves. She is a great dancer 😍💃💃💃💃👏👏👏👏”, a third person declared.
“Sophie is fast becoming my favorite royal, so quietly working so hard and always so dignified and elegant ❤️”, someone else responded admiringly.
Whilst another agreed, describing the third of the Queen’s children and his wife as a “beautiful couple” and “so lovely”.
Sophie Wessex and Prince Edward’s skills have certainly impressed fans since their visit to Jersey and Guernsey and it comes ahead of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend in June. The couple is expected to make an appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony with Her Majesty during the celebrations as they're amongst those royals who undertake public duties on her behalf.
