Prince Charles launches new conscious fashion collection with Net-a-Porter
Prince Charles and Yoox Net-a-Porter join forces on The Modern Artisan Project

- Prince Charles and The Prince's Trust have launched a new sustainable collection
- The collection was created designed by students in Italy and trainee artisans in Ayrshire
- In other Royal News, the Prince of Wales recently marked his 72nd birthday with an autumnal snap
Prince Charles may not be the first royal who comes to mind when we consider who is most fashionable. However the Prince of Wales has regularly been voted one of the most stylish men in Britain.
And now his sense of style has also been recognised by CEO of the Yoox Net-a-Porter group Federico Marchetti.
The Prince’s Foundation and Prince Charles will work with the group to launch his own ready-to-wear luxury fashion collection.
What is the ethos behind the collection?
The Prince’s Foundation will work with Yoox Net-A-Porter to create environmentally friendly clothing. This will be sold under the label The Modern Artisan Project.
The Prince of Wales has recently been praised by British Vogue Editor-in-Chief Edward Enninful for his sustainable approach to fashion.
This new venture not only focuses on eco-consciousness, but showcases talented young people too.

Prince’s Foundation trainee artisans in Dumfries House, Ayrshire and design students in Italy created this exclusive collection together.
When asked about the reasoning, the Prince of Wales told Vogue magazine that he wishes to encourage young people to perpetuate traditional textile skills. He also expressed his desire to help keep the British clothing industry alive.
What is the environmental impact of clothes?
The Prince also spoke of his desire to highlight more environmentally-friendly ways of producing clothing pieces in such a lucrative industry.
Whilst the textiles industry reportedly generated £1.4 trillion globally each year, Prince Charles stated that at the same time, it contributes “something like 1.2 billion tons of greenhouse gas.”

He remarked upon how “horrendously - and surprisingly - [it]is more than the entire aviation and shipping sectors.”
The future King concluded that: “it is critical that we address the whole issue around how we produce clothes.”
Where can you buy the collection?
This new luxury ready-to-wear collection is now available to buy at Net-A-Porter, Mr Porter Live, The Outnet and Yoox. Prices range from a cashmere sweater at £395 to £1295 for a ladies’ coat.
All profits will be donated to The Prince’s Foundation.
