King Charles III had a heartwarmingly funny exchange with Stella McCartney at Buckingham Palace on Friday, after the British fashion designer forgot the correct way to greet the monarch.

King Charles III had a gracious reaction to Stella McCartney's royal faux pas last night, after the British fashion designer admitted she had forgotten how to greet the new monarch.

His Majesty hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace on Friday evening in honor of the UK climate summit, COP27, welcoming over 200 guests to the regal London residence's lavish ballroom.

The 12-day-long conference, which took place in Scotland last year, will kick off in Egypt on November 6. Despite being a vocal presence at COP26 in November 2021, Charles will miss the upcoming COP27 after reportedly being advised by former Prime Minister Liz Truss not to attend.

His support for the summit remained clear, however, as he greeted world leaders, influential businesspeople, and NGO representatives in London last night.

Despite rumors that the King was disappointed over his decision not to attend COP27, the 74-year-old appeared in good spirits while mingling with his VIP guests. He even shared a lighthearted laugh with Stella McCartney at one point, after the fashion mogul forgot how to greet Queen Elizabeth II's successor.

"Your Majesty, I don't know what I'm supposed to do anymore," the 51-year-old gushed as she leaned in to give King Charles a kiss on each cheek.

She then bowed slightly and said, "I think I'm supposed to do this now," before shrugging and turning to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to say, "I was practicing on the way."

Fortunately, King Charles didn't seem one bit offended by Stella's royal blunder. Instead, he burst into laughter at the environmentalist's refreshing honesty. The pair are known to have a strong friendship, having previously bonded over their lifelong shared passion for ecological issues.

Known for her sustainable fashion, Stella wore a vegan leather dress in burgundy adorned with a ruched cape for the high-profile event. She teamed the look with matching boots and an elegant clutch, while styling her auburn 'lob' locks into waves for an effortless finish.
