Throughout the years celebrities who sign up for the chance to win the Strictly title have spoken about how gruelling the training is. So it is no surprise that many of them end up toning up and losing weight in the process.
Ed Balls, Lisa Riley and Ore Oduba are just some of the celebrities who have lost weight during their time on the competition.
This year Rev Richard Coles has been whipped into shape by his 28-year-old dance partner Dianne Buswell, and has already shed a stone – in just one month!
The hours of training and decision to ditch cake and pork pies for healthier snacks have certainly paid off.
According to a studio source, who spoke to The Sun, “Richard has lost inches off his waist and the costume department have had to take in several of his outfits. He’s delighted.”
Before the series started Richard had spoken about his hopes to lose some weight. He said, “I want to lose two-and-a-half stone and not go to A&E. That’s my main ambition.”
So he is well on the way to achieving at least one of those goals!
This week Richard will be performing the Paso Doble, the style performed by Alexanda Burke last week. Her performance with dance partner Gorka Marquez was awarded 36 points from the judges putting the couple in with a good chance to go all the way in the competition..
Richard will have to work pretty hard if he wants to rival Alexandra’s performance.
Last week he came second to last on the leader board with just 17 points. This leaves him joint last with Charlotte Hawkins when the scores from week one and two are combined.
The two Strictly hopefuls have just 34 points, which is 30 points behind Debbie McGee who holds the top spot.
