'He's hanging on for a reason' Kate Garraway is touched by survival story amid Derek's health battle

Kate Garraway has thanked a fan for sharing a survival story as her husband remains in a serious condition following his battle with coronavirus.
The Good Morning Britain star broke her social media hiatus to respond to a fan encouraging Kate to "keep going" with the hope that Derek will pull through.
The fan tweeted, "@kategarraway ..keep going with the messages he is hanging on, for a reason, for you, the kids, he has to come back to you all and he will. try to watch the you tube clip about Lincoln Hall, he explains about the stages of unconsciousness that he came back from. Big hugs xxx."
Kate, 53, simply replied, "Thanks - will do xxx"
It comes just days after the TV star penned an emotional tribute to the father of her two children to mark Father's Day.
Sharing a collage of pictures of Derek, she wrote, “Happy Fathers Day to all the wonderful Daddy’s out there. A tough day for us but am filled with so much love & gratitude to still have for my Dad “Trinity” – thats my Dad Gordon , Derek’s dad Ken and of course Derek himself ( officially the Best Dad in the World according to Darcey & Billy. ) All three of them never happier than when they are with their children.”

Explaining her social media absence over the past couple of weeks, Kate admitted she “needed a little time” after opening up about Derek’s battle with the deadly virus.
“Am sorry have not posted recently. I just needed a little time. They were incredibly emotional experiences & to be honest left me with a range of feelings – gratitude to @itv & @janemoore for giving me the chance to let all who so touchingly care for Derek know what he is up against but also rather overwhelmed by the long road that lies ahead.”
Derek, who shares children William and Darcey with Kate, was admitted to an intensive care unit back in March and was put into an induced coma while suffering severely with the covid-19 virus.
Bravely speaking about the harrowing past few weeks, Kate explained that while Derek is no longer ill with the virus, he may never recover from the damage the disease has done to his body.
“The fight with the virus has been won and he’s still here but it’s wreaked extraordinary damage on his body and we don’t know if he can recover from that,” Kate said.
