Meet Joanne Harris
Award-winning author, Joanne Harris, was born in Barnsley to a French mother and an English father. In her time as a teacher she wrote three novels including Chocolat - which was made into an Oscar-nominated film with Johnny Depp, Juliette Binoche and Judi Dench. Harris has since re-visited the characters three more times, which her readers love, though they are very accepting of her writing different books.
Enter Orfeia - the third of her folk-inspired novellas. A re-telling of the Orpheus myth - an ancient Greek legendary hero known for possessing superhuman musical skills - we follow heartbroken mother, Fay, setting out to save her lost daughter through the realms of the real, dreams and the underworld. Loosely based on the Child Ballads - a collection of traditional folk songs, this masterful storyteller explores loss, acceptance, determination and love in this magical tale.
As well as chatting about Orfeia, Joanne and Zoe will be discussing:
• Joanne's magical writing style
• Her love of folklore
• Fun facts about the author - there are quite a few!
