Lest you thought skirt suits and stripes to be a fashion no-no, think again: during her most recent public appearance, Julia Roberts rocked an ensemble that proved otherwise.

Julia, who recently surprised fans by revealing that MLK paid for her birth in 1967, showed up at a performance at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City earlier this week wearing a gray striped vest with a matching pencil skirt and a tie.

She completed the look with a white shirt and an oversized blue-and-yellow striped coat, black stockings and a pair of black heels. The 55-year-old actor wore her signature hair down in waves and opted for simple and natural-looking makeup.

The star of Gaslit clearly has a thing for suits and ties. For example, back in 1990, while accepting a Golden Globe award for best supporting actress for her role in Sweet Magnolias, Julia famously donned a gray striped suit by Giorgio Armani, which she also paired with a tie.

High-waisted, off-center princess seam mini-skirt with a slit at the hem and invisible back zipper that pairs perfectly with its matching suit jacket.

A year later, Julia won yet another Golden Globe award, this time for her work on Pretty Woman. Once again, the celebrity walked on stage wearing a suit, this time a pinstripe skirt number.

Most recently, while promoting her newest movie Ticket to Paradise with George Clooney, which Julia warned will 'probably be terrible' in refreshingly honest interview, on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the actor wore a striking tan suit from the fall 2022 Gucci x Adidas line. The look featured Adidas' signature triple jersey stripe on the pants, a faux black karakul fur trim on the jacket's cuff, and both brands' logos on the chest. In true Julia fashion, she completed the outfit with a black tie.

The star posted a video of her look on Instagram back in October, where she's seen wearing aviator sunglasses and a pair of black high heels while pretending to be an air traffic controller.

Fans found the clip hilarious, as did fellow actor and wife of Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson. "Excuse me, What time do we land?" Rita commented on the post. Julia responded with a crying-of-laughter emoji.

A stellar actor that has dominated the Hollywood industry since her 1987 debut on the direct-to-video Firehouse (fun fact: she was uncredited in the film!) her starring role in the coming-of-age 1988 film Mystic Pizza about three Portuguese-American friends who work at a pizza parlor in a seaside town in Connecticut, Julia has, throughout the years, become a fashion icon, in part thanks to some of her most daring looks - including many suit-related ones.

Needless to say, we'll gladly follow all fashion trends promoted by the legendary actor.
