Lisa Faulkner has opened up about a ‘horrific’ health battle and the effects that it has had on her everyday life.

The TV star, who is married to TV chef and Masterchef judge John Torode, opened up in a personal memoir about her struggle to fall pregnant and the lasting effect that it still has on her life.

Writing in an excerpt of her memoir Meant To Be: My Journey to Motherhood, the now mum-of-one revealed that her experience with fertility drugs had a ‘horrific’ effect on her body.

After three unsuccessful rounds of IVF and an ectopic pregnancy back in 2008 when she was trying to have a baby with ex-husband Chris Coghill, Lisa and her then-husband adopted daughter Billie.

And now the TV star has opened up about her experience with well-known fertility drug Clomid, revealing that her bout with the aggressive drug has left lasting effects on her body.

Clomid is very interesting,’ Lisa wrote in her memoir, ‘it works for loads of people but it made me mental.

‘Within three days of taking it I turned into a different person,’ she detailed.

One minute I was crying, literally sobbing, on the bathroom floor, then I was high as a kite, then I was angry.

It felt like the worst PMT, but with no period pain… it was horrific, with no end in sight even though you only take if for a few days at a time’.

Lisa then revealed that, even though it has been years since she took the fertility drug, her hormones are still affected by her time using it.

I never quite got back on track after that,’ she revealed. ‘Ever since, I’ve always felt very hormonal, and been very aware of my cycle as it happens.

I'm an actress, I'm an emotional person,’ she admitted, ‘but I did definitely notice that after taking the Clomid I stayed like that for a long time, experiencing very big highs and big lows’.

After divorcing ex-husband Chris back in 2011, Lisa went on to tie the knot with TV chef John Torode just last year.

The pair now present their own TV show together, John and Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen, which is aired every Sunday morning.

She never leaves the house without a slick of lip balm and a good slathering of SPF, cannot live without an eyelash curler by her side and is always on the hunt for new lipsticks to add to her ‘Lipstick of the Day’ Instagram story highlight (and color-coordinated collection).

But it’s not just beauty buys Aleesha can help you with. Social media savviness, strong PR relationships and a need to stay in the know mean she’s all about the latest fashions, clever gadgets and reliable lifestyle buys too. She loves indulging in an interior craze (with a bedroom drowned in prints, plants and pink), is a regular visitor to the Missoma and Edge of Ember 'New In' pages and can’t resist the allure of a kitchen gadget—just ask her three coffee machines.

When she’s not playing around with new products and testing anything she can get her hands on, Aleesha spends most of her time with her head in a current bestseller, catching up on the latest Netflix craze with her sister, trying out new recipes, drinking wine with her bestie and (in non-COVID times) has been known to be a bit of a jetsetter amongst her friendship group. Oh and she makes the most of her Disney+ subscription by watching the Marvel films on repeat (definitely not just for Chris Evans...).
