Susan Sarandon has opened up about her relationship with David Bowie and reveals the details of the final conversation she shared with her former lover.
Susan, who recently revealed she's 'hopeful' but 'not desperate' about finding love again at 74, previously had a romantic relationship with the rockstar which later became a close friendship
In an interview with You Magazine, Susan opened up about her relationship with David Bowie, who died in 2016 at the age of 69.
The actor said, "I was fortunate enough to be closer to him right before he died, the last couple of months. He did find me again. We talked to each other and said some things that needed to be said."

Susan revealed that her last conversation with David took place while she was visiting the Greek island of Lesbos. The star revealed that she had gone to bed and taken an Ambien (a sleeping tablet) and when she awoke she realized she had been on the phone to David Bowie while she was half asleep.
Susan said, "I had this dream that David had called me and that we’d had this conversation and as I hung up I thought [in the dream]: 'Nobody’s going to believe me, that David Bowie called me in Lesbos.'"

The star continued to say, "Then later, I thought, 'Did he actually call me?' And I went to my phone and he had. I have no recollection of what that conversation was."
Susan revealed that sadly, this was their last phone call and she still has no idea what was said. "He died a week later. It’s all so frustrating." She added sweetly, "There was a double rainbow in New York on the day that David Bowie passed."
Susan and David both starred in a Gothic vampire movie called The Hunger in 1983. The two had a romantic relationship shortly after they met but this was kept under wraps by the famous pair.
After his relationship with Susan and some other high-profile celebrities such as Bianca Jagger and Melissa Hurley, David married his wife Iman Abdulmajid in 1992. The couple has a daughter named Lexi who was born in New York in 2000.
Susan revealed in the interview that she was delighted that David found Iman to share his life with. She also said she was thankful that he was able to be with someone at the end of his life when he was suffering from liver cancer.
"I love his wife Iman, someone who was so equal in stature [to him]. That was clearly who he was destined to be with. I was so happy that she was with him through all of that," said Susan.
Since the death of her husband, Iman Bowie says she'll never marry again. The star lives in the US and continues to parent her daughter Lexi who is now 21 years old.
