Strictly viewers in hysterics after Shirley Ballas' cheeky remark about Kelvin Fletcher

Shirley Ballas

Strictly's Shirley Ballas is known for her cheeky sense of humours, and last night's was no exception.

The judge was commenting on Kelvin Fletcher's performance, when she mentioned his amazing 'woodpecker' - leaving the contestant slightly confused.

She said, "It's the semi-final and I'm wondering what's going to happen out there. You stay connected and when you do your pendulant swings where your legs went out and then your woodpecker - that was amazing."

Turning to Oti, Kelvin is heard saying, "I don't know what a woodpecker is."

Shirley then clarified, "Where you tap your foot behind. Everything you did was great. Your foot work was..."

The remark left judges and dancers laughing, until Tess Daly intervened and told Kelvin, "Look you've got them in bits and pieces, that's the effect you have."

Viewers at home were left in hysterics over the cheeky remark, with one writing on Twitter, 'Shirley loved Kelvin's woodpecker too funny.'

Another wrote, 'So Shirley likes Kelvin's woodpecker!'

A third added, 'When did Kelvin get his 'woodpecker' out? I missed that.'

Responding to his tweets, many fans continued to make fun of the joke. One said, 'Kelvin we always notice your woodpecker I’m just glad the judges have noticed it now. A nation loves your woodpecker *said with straight face*. I personally thought your woodpecker was outstanding 😊'.

Another joked, 'I think our Shirley is quite smitten with our Kelvins errrrrr footwork ah ha Xxx ❤️'.

The hilarious interaction comes before the three couples who will be dancing their way to next week's grand final are announced.

Kelvin and Oti topped the scoreboards, but they're up against Chris Ramsey and Karen Hauer, Emma Barton and Anton Du Beke and Karim Zeroual and Amy Dowden.
