James Corden is facing backlash over his Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts segment on The Late Late Show, following claims it is "culturally offensive and insensitive", with over 12 thousand people signing a petition to have the game banned from the program.

A TikTok user started a petition for the Spill Your Guts segment to be removed from James Corden's Late Late Show, claiming that it "encourages anti-Asian racism" by mocking native foods.

The game sees James and his celebrity guests sit down in front of a table of "gross" food such as chicken feet, cod sperm, fish eyes, grasshoppers and scorpions.

The stars are then asked a tricky, personal question and given the choice to share their answer with the world or keep it to themselves and opt for a taste of what's on the table, often traditional delicacies in Asian cultures.

TikTok user, Kim Saira, launched a change.org petition, urging her followers to sign it in order to have controversial segment taken off air.

The petition, which has already been backed by over 12 and a half thousand signatures, reads, "The foods that are presented are meant to be 'gross,' as they are supposed to encourage the guest to answer his questions instead.

"However, many of the foods that he presents to his guests are actually from different Asian cultures. He's presented foods such as balut, century old eggs, and chicken feet, and which are often regularly eaten by Asian people."

James has also been criticized for his descriptions of the foods during the game, which has been played by megastars such as Harry Styles, Justin Bieber, Chrissy Teigen, Gordon Ramsay, Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner, amassing millions of views online.

Kim writes, "He's openly called these foods "really disgusting," and "horrific." In the wake of the constant Asian hate crimes that have continuously been occurring, not only is this segment incredibly culturally offensive and insensitive, but it also encourages anti-Asian racism."

Kim has also pleaded for an apology from James and the Late Late Show to Asian communities and asked for the food in the Spill Your Guts game to be changed or for it to be removed from the show entirely.

Detailing the changes being requested in light of the petition, Kim has outlined, "Completely change the food presented on his show to something else, or remove the segment entirely.

"A formal apology statement from James on his show, including steps he will be taking to do better in the future."

It's also been requested that money is donated to "local Asian American organizations that are working to help Asian-owned restaurants and small businesses".
