If you're looking for a versatile, beginner-friendly sex toy, the best bullet vibrators are worth your attention.
As the name suggests, they're bullet-shaped, with rounded, sloped or pointed tips, often controlled with a simple, single button. While they're generally smaller than other sex toys, they come in a range of sizes and materials and offer a range of functions from light buzzing to deep rumbles. Compact but powerful, they're simple to use and are among the best sex toys around.
“Bullet vibrators are the best sex toys for beginners, because of their simplicity and versatility – they can be used on the clitoris but also all over the body – as well as their beginner-friendly price point," says Annabelle Knight, sex and relationship expert at Lovehoney. "That is arguably where you should start," she continues, "how much are you looking to spend? At the very lower end of the scale, you can still get some very effective bullet vibrators, but you will be slightly limited in terms of their power variations, and they will be battery-powered."
To help you find the best one for your body and preferences, I gathered a group of (anonymous) testers to test a huge range of options across several weeks. We looked at features like ease of setup and use, shape, material, power, price, and packaging, and deemed these 11 bullet vibrators to be the best of the best.
The best bullet vibrators, tested by us
The Lovehoney Ignite Bullet Vibrator was crowned our best bullet vibrator overall. I (along with three other testers who tried the toy) found that it truly delivered on all fronts. It offers powerful vibrations, multiple speeds, a smooth silicone material and all at a budget-friendly price. It's a great staple that rivals some of the best vibrators.
The streamlined shape was the first thing that stood out to our testers. "I like how it's slightly bigger than other vibrators. You can hold it without your fingers or hand aching after a while. It also has a more rounded tip compared to other toys, which doesn't feel super intense against the clit, but it still delivers in the orgasm department. This is my favourite vibe by far," says our tester Sarah.
The Lovehoney Ignite Bullet Vibrator features three speed settings and an impressive 17 vibration modes. In fact, if anything, it offered too many functions for our testers. "I found I only used the first two speeds and the first three functions, but it's nice to have the variety should I want it down the line," says Sarah. This also makes it ideal for beginners, however, who might want to start with less intensity and work up the scale.
With a USB rechargeable design, travel lock and travel bag, it's also great for travelling and easy to discreetly slip into your weekend bag.
Settings: 3 speeds, 17 vibration modes.
Reasons to buy: Strong vibrations, comfortable, small, affordable.
Reasons to avoid: Vibrations may be too strong for some.
Lovehoney is a one-stop shop for sex toys, offering an expansive range for all preferences and discreet delivery. This is one of the reasons I love it: you can buy an all-singing, all-dancing vibrator for a few hundred pounds, or a simple but wildly effective toy for under £15. Falling firmly into the latter category is the small but mighty Magic Bullet 10 Function Silver Bullet Vibrator.
With an impressive 10 functions, a tapered tip for targeted stimulation, it's also super easy to use, with one button that moves you through different speeds and pulsation modes. All for under £15 - and available in four different colours.
"This vibrator was the best out of all those I tried," says our tester, Ellen. "The vibration mode variety is great, although I just cycled through the first three. It's a powerful toy, so chances are, you won't be spending too much time using it.
"The downside is the noise that comes with it. It's fine for me as I live alone, but this is not a vibrator for anyone looking to be discreet."
Settings: 10 vibration modes.
Reasons to buy: Easy to use, tapered tip for pinpointed stimulation.
Reasons to avoid: A little louder than others on this list, and not completely waterproof.
The beauty of bullet vibrators lies in their simplicity. But if you want a toy that offers more functionality, then we'd recommend The Je Joue G-Spot Vibrator.
It's about as versatile as a bullet vibrator can get, offering similar sensations to both a bullet and a wand vibrator, while also reaching the G-spot, just as well as the best rabbit vibrators do. With a smooth silicone material and a tapered tip, it also has a real luxury feel.
"It gives off a strong buzz even on the lowest setting, and with five intensity levels, this vibe gives you a good spectrum of power to play around with. I enjoyed using it for precise clitoral stimulation, a rumble against my G-spot, and to create titillating sensations elsewhere on my body," says our expert tester, Lucy.
As for ease of use, she says: "The buttons sit in a convenient place, so it's easy and comfortable to use. The material makes for a smooth feel that allows for more movement than the silicone in the Smile Makers Surfer, which I also tested.
"It's on the quiet side and has the handy hold-down-to-turn-off function so you don't have to cycle through all the settings when you're done. It's very convenient when a toy comes with this many modes."
Most of the best bullet vibrators come with discreet delivery anyway, but this is also available to buy as one of the best vibrators on Amazon if you're looking for also looking for speedy delivery.
Settings: 5 intensity levels, 7 vibration modes.
Reasons to buy: Can be used in different ways, quiet, tapered tip, strong vibrations.
Reasons to avoid: No travel lock.
Need to keep noise levels low? The Surfer from Smile Makers is the best choice. Our reviewer said it's perfect for "a pleasant and uninterrupted experience" as it's silent when in operation, comfortable to use, and has a rounded tip for versatile, pinpointed stimulation. Plus, it's a fun colour that offers a welcome break from the sea of pink and purple sex toys.
Smile Makers have once again brought an element of playfulness and innovation to what could otherwise be just a simple (yet pretty powerful) bullet vibrator. Aside from the eye-catching colour and thoughtful contouring around the body, which makes for a comfortable grip, what stands out most about The Surfer is the 'fins' that sit on the rounded head. The inconspicuous size could almost pass for a cosmetic design feature, but these simple little bumps add a 'ribbed' element that elevates the pleasure factor.
"This is one to keep by your bed if you share a home with others," says Lucy. "As for moving through the settings, it's a smooth transition from one speed to another, which makes for a pleasant and uninterrupted experience. Unlike some other small vibrators, which leave you scrolling laboriously through speeds and patterns to turn off, it features a 'hold down to turn off' function. I thought this was an underrated but much-appreciated capability when you're ready to put it down for the night."
Our tester liked the premium feel of the smooth surface, too. However, there were two drawbacks. "It's not the most slippery of materials, so I found this toy was best when used with plenty of lube. And while it does offer a good climax, the vibe didn't offer the same earth-shattering feel of the best clitoral vibrator or something with a slightly more pointed tip," she says.
Settings: 1 vibration mode, 3 intensity levels.
Reasons to buy: Super quiet, affordable, comfortable, small fins for extra stimulation.
Reasons to avoid: Not very slippery, so perhaps not suited for anyone who suffers with dryness.
If you're happy to spend a little more, you'll get a little more. With a slanted tip for layers of pleasure, the We-Vibe X Lipstick Rechargeable Bullet Vibrator is strong yet subtle.
We-Vibe is one of our all-time favourites, and the brand features in many of our sex toy edits. The We-Vibe Sync is one of our best remote vibrators, for example. I gave this bullet to a tester on the team, and they said it was one of their best sex toy picks of all time, bar none. High praise, indeed!
"It's a sturdy bullet with a slightly greater length than other bullet products I've tried. I think it's all about balancing pleasure with comfort, but it's also practical," explains tester Sarah. "Using the We-Vibe was a pretty seamless experience, generally. It's easy to navigate the buttons, turn them on and off, and move through the settings. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some other sex toys, but this was an advantage for me."
Its longer design means this toy has an obvious handle, which is unconventional for a bullet vibrator, but this isn't your usual bullet toy. It offers more functionality, for one thing. "Using this vibrator was the most pleasure I've had with a simple bullet and I won't be going back to using my other toys," says Sarah.
But perhaps the most impressive thing about the We-Vibe Tango X is that it balances strength and subtlety in its vibrations. It gives off a powerful rumble rather than a ferocious buzz, meaning you get the benefit of the intensity without having to accustom a sensitive clitoris to the almost uncomfortable level of vibration that sometimes comes with strong vibrators, even on their lowest setting.
Settings: 8 intensity levels, 7 vibration modes.
Reasons to buy: Longer design for easy use, slanted tip, strong vibrations, quiet, easy-to-use buttons, premium feel.
Reasons to avoid: More expensive price point.
The Durex Intense Delight Bullet Vibrator is a great choice for beginners or anyone starting their collection, as there's only one mode to navigate. While more advanced toys like the Smile Makers' Surfer will offer many variations of speed and pulsations, if you're new to bullet vibrators, this might be a bit much. At under £11 direct from retailers like Boots and Amazon UK, this one's perfect to try before investing in a more premium toy, should you want to.
There's just one button on the base of the toy to turn the device on and off, and the silicone feels super smooth to the touch, which I was surprised to find when I tested this toy, considering the price. Add a dash of lube, and it makes for an incredibly smooth and simple experience.
If you're not new to sex toys but are looking to complement one of your other toys with a simple bullet, this is also a reliable option. With a predicted battery life of 5 hours, you can trust this one will work in whatever situation. And if it doesn't, all you have to do is change the battery rather than spend ages charging it again.
It's hardly the top choice on the list, with its natural negative point being that you can't increase the intensity, but it certainly gets the job done. If you're looking for a budget spend with a little more on offer, I'd suggest the Lovehoney Magic Bullet 10.
Settings: 1 intensity level and 1 vibration mode.
Reasons to buy: Only one mode, affordable, relatively quiet, waterproof.
Reasons to avoid: One mode means you might get bored easily.
If you're looking for a simple vibrator with limited functions but plenty of durability, you can't go wrong with a bullet vibrator from Ann Summers. We were sad to see our beloved Ann Summers 3-speed Bullet Vibrator, which was on this list for several years, was retired. But this rechargeable, waterproof version is a welcome upgrade.
With three speeds and seven vibration patterns, all controllable via a simple push button, it offers quick thrills without any complicated buttons or settings. If you're someone who favours intensity over (sometimes annoyingly random-seeming) vibration patterns, then it will do the job just fine.
The tapered tip was also an improvement on the brand's previous baseline bullet vibrator, which featured a more rounded tip. The pointed end gives the vibrator its wow factor as you can target the vibrations wherever feels best and most stimulating. It's also waterproof and rechargeable, so it's ideal for travelling or water play.
When I tried the toy myself, I was surprised to find that the hard plastic casing houses a powerful little motor, and the toy adapts to the body temperature quickly. I also liked the luxe rose-gold finish, which gave it a premium feel.
Now, onto the downsides. While we enjoyed using the Power Bullet, some users have reported that they were unimpressed with the battery life and that the silicone button gets too hot. While we can't vouch for this personally, if you do want something that lasts a little longer, it could be worth splashing a little bit more money and buying the Lovehoney Ignite 20, for example.
Settings: 3 intensity levels and 7 vibration modes.
Reasons to buy: Tapered tip, compact and rechargeable.
Reasons to avoid: The button can be a little unresponsive at times.
Bullet vibrators tend to be smaller than other types of vibrators, generally, but at just 2.5 inches, the Lovehoney Glow Up bullet vibrator is one of the smallest around. It's also super discreet in this matt purple colour, easy to store, and simplest to use. However, it's also available in brassy gold and rainbow colours, should you want something a little less conspicuous.
It has three speeds and seven vibration patterns, which is roughly in line with the other basic bullet vibrators on this list. This, and its compact size, make it perfect for anyone new to sex toys or looking for something simple to pair with other accessories, like a harness or cock ring.
It is smaller than others at under three inches, which will either be a pro or con, depending on what you're looking for. But make no mistake, it may be compact, but it's definitely powerful. It's also submersible, should you want to use it in the shower or both.
Settings: 3 intensity levels and 7 vibration modes.
Reasons to buy: Compact size, beginner-friendly, powerful, and easy to use.
Reasons to avoid: Might be a little loud for some people.
If you've not tried an aluminium vibrator before, I can only urge you to change that - they are totally unique. My favourite is the Love Not War Maya for many reasons, but mainly because the toy is waterproof and can be cooled down (using cold water) or warmed up (using warm water) safely. Being made of metal, the tip offers very precise clitoral stimulation as well, without being uncomfortable.
There are plenty of speeds and vibrations on the Maya, but not so many that I spend my whole time pressing the button to find the right one. Compared to some other picks of our best bullet vibrators, the Maya has fewer choices. This is no bad thing, though. Limited options mean you spend more time scrolling through the options than using the toy.
Above all, the premium aluminium casing offers a unique feel to the vibrator that feels great against the skin. It's also easy to use with one button on the base of the toy controlling the modes, and it charges via USB.
At time of writing, the Maya is currently out of stock, but Love Not War are refreshing the stock soon - so watch this space!
Settings: 4 intensity levels, 6 vibration modes.
Reasons to buy: Compact size, beginner-friendly, powerful, easy to use.
Reasons to avoid: Not waterproof.
At woman&home, we also know a thing (or ten) about the best remote vibrators, and our tester, Sarah, picked out the Svakom Phoenix Neo Interactive as the best app-controlled bullet vibrator. In her review, she picked out the design as one of the first impressive aspects of the device. The slick and stylish silhouette is "not just a pretty face", she says. The Svakom Phoenix Neo Interactive is built with sophisticated technology that packs in 11 different vibrations, scaling from juicy foreplay to mind-blowing stimulation".
While it might look intimidating, the unique shape of this toy helps to stimulate both the G-spot and the external part of the clitoris at the same time. The bigger, ridged bulb sits inside the vagina (quite comfortably), while the flexible neck means it's versatile and easy to manipulate the smaller end into position for perfect clitoral placement. It also boasts a snug fit, meaning you can go completely hands-free without worrying about it slipping out or sliding around. It's helped by the soft silicone material, which tends to be a comfortable surface to work with as well - with lube, of course.
In terms of the controls, she explains, "they're simple to use on the device itself but the app function is an addition that's great for solo play or living out your sexual fantasies and handing power to your partner as I like to do. You can cycle through patterns and intensities or even set the vibration to react to and echo sounds and music from your phone."
Settings: 11 vibration modes.
Reasons to buy: Great design, range of functions, app functionality for added stimulation.
Reasons to avoid: Shorter run time, the app can be a little buggy.
Just like the treat factor of a fancy hotel injects a little thrill into a dalliance, there's always that frisson of excitement when getting out the best luxury vibrator for a solo night in. The Dame Pom piques that sensation before you've even removed it from the embroidered cloth storage bag. This isn't a typical bullet-shaped vibrator, but it does give you everything a bullet would, making it the top pick of an alternative to the classic bullet.
It's smaller than some of the other best bullet vibrators on the list, but the design of the tip introduces another level of clitoral stimulation, which is why our tester opted for this model over the brand's traditional bullet vibrator, the Zee. "The clever pinched tip that nestles itself against your clitoris is the level-up," says Lucy. "The rest of the device hugs your vulva for all-around pleasure. It doesn't have quite the precision as something with a pointed tip, but the distinctive shape means the other side of the device almost moulds to your hand. You can press this onto your body, rather than needing to find a good grip and hold it in place. The simple buttons also sit in a way that is comfortable to access during use."
When it comes to the vibrations, the Pom emits a soft but strong rumble that, like with the We-Vibe Tango X, isn't too harsh on the sensitive clitoral area. The initial vibrations aren't as powerful as with the Tango X, but with five intensities, it more than made up for it when she hit the higher settings. As for the premium factor, everything from the fancy storage bag to the interiors-worthy hues, the elegant shape, smooth material, and the slick magnetic charging port speaks to the luxuriousness of this quite unpretentious-looking bullet vibe.
The only niggle our tester had with this - and it is just a small niggle - is that the soft silicone material meant that this vibrator collected lint quite easily. "Even when taking it out of the storage bag, it manages to attract little fibres that are seemingly impossible to get off without using a wipe or liquid," she says. Of course, it's always important to know how to clean a vibrator safely after use, but our tester wasn't expecting to have to do it beforehand, too. Still, they said on their not-so-lazy days, it's one they don't mind having a pre-session spritz for a little high-end thrill.
Settings: 5 intensity levels, 5 vibration modes.
Reasons to buy: Soft and smooth material, premium feel, comfortable vibrations, hugs the clitoris for stimulation.
Reasons to avoid: Gathers lint easily.
How we tested the best bullet vibrators
How we test sex toys is very important to us. Our testers used each toy several times and anything that made for a smooth, satisfying, and thrilling experience every time we used it was worthy of a place in the line-up.
From small and efficient bullets with minimal settings to models with high-intensity levels and toys in special shapes or extra features for heightened pleasure, the expert health team at woman&home has tested a range of the best bullet vibrators from different brands.
When testing the best bullet vibrators, we considered...
- Ease of use and setup: How easy was the vibrator to use for stimulation? When testing the vibrators, we recorded difficulty levels for cycling through the settings and button navigation, opting for vibrators that were the easiest to use even if they had many functions.
- Shape: Was the toy ergonomic and did it have any features designed to help target the clitoris? Some bullets are pointed and others are rounded at the end so we collected a range of both.
- Material: How comfortable was it to hold during use and how did the material feel against our skin?
- How powerful the vibrations were: There's nothing wrong with a powerful vibe but was it a little too much for a first-time bullet vibrator buyer? We explored a range of the best bullet vibrators to offer a spectrum of intensity.
- Price: When testing, we considered all price points, relative affordability, and value for money.
- Packaging: All models mentioned below were delivered in discreet boxes, but how environmentally friendly was the disposal? We assessed whether each of the boxes was fully recyclable or whether it was destined for landfill after opening.
How to choose a bullet vibrator
- Decide what kind of shape you want: We all have different needs, so while some may prefer a smooth, rounded shape, others might want something a bit more pointed for more targeted pleasure. Some may be satisfied with a wider head that can be used in more general areas. "A rounded or pointed end gives more focused stimulation, while a concave or softer head offers a gentler, cushioned feel if you’re sensitive to direct contact," explains Samantha Marshall, head of brand and sex expert/educator at Smile Makers Collection.
- Consider how many modes and intensities you'd prefer: This is a personal choice, explains Megwyn White, a certified sexologist. "Some may just like steady vibrations while others prefer a range of intensities and pulsing patterns," she says.
- Choose a comfortable material for you: Some people may enjoy using plastic for a smooth experience, while others might prefer silicone for a more luxurious touch, says Megwn, who is also the director of education at Satisfyer
- For versatility, go for a waterproof design: Opt for a waterproof material to help take shower sex to the next level. "For versatility, pick a compact, waterproof design that can slip easily between partners during sex without interrupting the moment," agrees Samantha.
- Decide whether you want to take it travelling with you: If so, a travel lock is necessary to avoid suitcase mishaps. Alternatively, you could opt for a battery-powered model and remove the batteries while travelling. A travel lock is also a useful feature if you need to safely store your sex toy discreetly in a drawer where it might get knocked around.
- Test how it feels in your hand: If you are new to bullets, test the vibration in a more sensitive area like the underside of your wrist. Take note not only of the intensity on your skin but also on the fingers that hold the vibe. If it's too buzzy, it can be uncomfortable in the hand for longer periods. If you find it too intense, you may want to opt for a model with a greater variety of strength.

What are the benefits of using a bullet?
There are many health benefits of using a smaller vibrator, like a bullet vibrator, over other types. “Bullets are perfect for those that might be intimidated by larger products or ones with added features, as they are easy to incorporate into pleasure,” explains Megwyn. They're among the most popular vibrators and feature heavily in our guide on the best lesbian sex toys, too. They're also great for powerful yet comfortable clitoral stimulation.
The best bullet vibrators are also ideal for storage and travel as they’re small and discreet. “They also enhance many erotic activities like oral sex or [they can be used] as a foreplay tool for teasing the body before more intense stimulation," Megwyn adds.
They're also generally easier to use and more affordable than other sex toys.
Can you use a bullet vibrator internally?
Bullet vibrators don't tend to be the types of vibrators you can insert, and most bullet vibrators come with a warning that they shouldn't be used internally, so it's always important to follow the instructions on your particular bullet if you want to use it internally.
The main reason you often shouldn't use it inside the vagina is the off-chance it could get stuck or make its way too far into the vaginal canal and you won't be able to get it out. To avoid an awkward A&E trip, it's best to just use bullet vibrators externally and opt for a G-spot vibrator or rabbit if you're looking for specific G-spot (and clitoris) stimulation.
How to use a bullet vibrator
New to bullet vibrators? Luckily, we have a guide dedicated to explaining how to use a bullet vibrator.
Firstly, always read the instructions and use your bullet vibrator externally. Once you're ready to get started, apply lube. "Don't forget lubricant - even though it’s not for penetration, 'lube is life' and makes clitoral play smoother, reducing friction and enhancing sensation," explains Samantha.
Then, get acquainted with the different vibrations and experiment with pressure. You don't need to go straight for your erogenous zone and can roll it on your forearm for a sense of the different settings. Once you're ready, you can place the tip against your clitoris or lightly tip it for a more drawn-out build-up.
"If you’re prone to overstimulation, layering the vibrator over fabric or underwear can soften the sensation while still feeling amazing," adds Samantha.
