THEATRE: The Nutcracker

by Chloe Randall on Friday, 11 November 2011

The Birmingham Royal Ballet promises a breathtaking performance of The Nutcracker, which is regarded, by many, as the finest version of Tchaikovsky's famous ballet score.

This mystical family favorite tells the tale of young Clara, who receives a gift from wonderful magician, Drosselmeyer on Christmas Eve. After dark, Clara creeps downstairs to play with her new nutcracker doll. Suddenly, the Christmas tree begins to grow and Clara is whisked into every child's dream world of toys and magic. After bravely rescuing her doll she is transported to the Land of Snow. Whilst there, she shares a beautiful dance with her prince, which will stay in her memory forever.

This new production promises many extra treats and surprises, including real magic tricks, a flying goose and artificial snow, to name a few!

Runs at the Birmingham Hippodrome from 25 November to 11 December, brb.org.uk
