Countess of Wessex makes incredible gesture as she addresses charity workers

Sophie, Countess of Wessex has spoken out in support of volunteer workers.

The Countess of Wessex, who was recently praised for all her coronavirus engagements, has shown her support for St John Ambulance in honour of today’s St. John’s Day.

Yesterday the Countess, who is Grand President of the charity, visited the organisation’s operational support hub to thank workers and volunteers for their efforts throughout the coronavirus crisis.

Volunteers at the Hub have been responsible for distributing clothing and PPE to 32 different St John Ambulance sites in the UK, where the charity is supporting the NHS on the frontline,’ wrote the Royal Family Instagram page.

The Countess helped to organise these deliveries and PPE shipments to be sent to ambulance crews, specialist cleaners, hospital staff and first aiders.

‘Ahead of #StJohnsDay tomorrow, Her Royal Highness also paid tribute to everyone at the Hub and others working with St John Ambulance, who have contributed over 115,000 hours of voluntary service since the outbreak began.

In a special message for the workers, shared by the St John Ambulance Twitter page yesterday evening, Countess Sophie said, “It’s the eve of St John Day and I’m absolutely thrilled to be in Gosport where I’m actually looking and helping to try and put some of the facilities together and equipment together that you are at the receiving end of."

“But more than anything I wanted to say a huge thank you.

“Thanks to the whole of St John Ambulance, all of our wonderful volunteers who have stepped up above and beyond during this coronavirus pandemic.

“Thank you for everything that you’ve done and are continuing to do.

“Over 115,000 hours of voluntary service - it’s quite staggering and you should be so proud of yourselves,” Countess Sophie pointed out.

“Particularly, I don’t want to name people, but I know that the young people have been doing an awful lot at the blood donation centres.

“But wherever you’ve been, whether you’ve been driving ambulances in the frontline,” she continued.

“Whether you’ve been supporting others by packaging uniform and equipment, thank you for what you’ve been doing.

“We rely on you, the country relies on you and you have done yourselves absolutely proud.

“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
