Sophie Wessex is nicknamed 'royal key worker' for the work she's carried out during the coronavirus pandemic

Sophie Wessex has been hailed a 'royal key worker' for all the volunteer work she's been doing during the COVID 19 crisis.

  • Sophie, who is married to the Queen's youngest son Prince Edward, has been working hard to help the public and raise spirits.
  • Now, a royal expert has affectionately branded her a royal key worker.
  • In other royal news, Prince Harry has received some sad news.

Why has Sophie Wessex been branded a 'royal key worker'?

Royal commentator Joe Little, managing editor of Majesty magazine, praised Sophie's work ethic during the pandemic.

He said, "She is making a difference in a very understated, very ‘Sophie' way."

The Countess has carried out many engagements during the global pandemic, as well as carrying out volunteer work.

Yesterday, she visited the NSPCC's London office to hear how staff and volunteers have been ensuring the Childline counselling service is still available during the lockdown.

She even observed a Childline counselling shift.

Sophie also delivered meals made for NHS staff by volunteers to Frimley Park Hospital alongside her husband, Prince Edward, on 11 June.

The royal couple have been helping organise the meals every week in their own private time.

Sophie had previously been to the same hospital back in April when she delivered food parcels for nurses, with Nourish Our Nurses.

Royal insider Peregrine Armstrong-Jones told PEOPLE magazine of Sophie's visits, "There’s no fanfare. These are private visits done in her own private time.

"When she leaves our kitchens, she generally then goes on to do more projects in different hospitals."

The Countess also held a meeting with Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon this week to discuss improving the livelihoods of women and girls across the world.

Lord Ahmad, the Prime Minister's Special Representative on Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict, shared a screenshot of the video call on social media and wrote, "The Countess of Wessex is a fantastic champion of the UK’s work to improve the livelihoods of women and girls across the world."

Well done, Countess!
