Victoria Beckham has rebooted this skirt trend - and it makes your legs look thinner!

Fashion designer Victoria Beckham has started a quiet style revolution, hitching skirts back up from the midi length that’s ruled the runways since 2014. It’s no Mary Quant moment, but at her February 2020 London fashion week show she established that knee length hemlines look really great again.

Especially when worn with long boots and neat sweaters with pointed seventies collars peeping out.

Speaking backstage after her show, Victoria Beckham said about the trend:

“I broke my own rules today. I’ve been wanting to do something shorter for a while – I know that I still want to wear a shorter length sometimes. So I’ve been trying to figure out how do I do that in a cool way. And I’m a minimalist, so I’m always looking for ways to make clothes that are exciting but still wearable. I want to challenge myself, not challenge the customer. Clothes shouldn’t make life difficult.”

Why this is going to kickstart a new skirt trend?

The question now is why do we think VB’s influence will have the power to raise hemlines on the high street? Afterall, it took us a long time to get used to what felt like the ‘dowdy’ length of a midi. But, they’re now the biggest sellers across all of the high street.

It's simple really. We think knee length skirts will be a big trend because they're easy to wear and they enhance one of the thinnest parts of the leg.

Who suits knee length skirts?

The beauty of a knee length skirt is that it can hold its shape more than a midi. Most knee length skirts are A-line shaped, which are wonderful for pear-shaped and curvy women, as they create a waist and balance out hips.

They’re also great for those who wish to create more shape. If you’re straight up and down an A-line skirt with defined waistband can give the illusion of soft curves.
