September is a month of both endings and new beginnings. As summer draws to a close and a new season arrives, we look back fondly at what has been, and ahead at what is to come.

With Fashion Week taking place in New York, London, Paris and Milan this month and brands like Dulux revealing their colour of the year and predictions for next year's top interior and colour trends, our shopping edit this month reflects the new Fall 2022 fashion trends and the latest launches across beauty and homes that we think will prove popular long after the last day of September.

These are buys that are worth their price tag and really deliver, whether that's new hair thickening products that actually show results, or fashion buys that will see you through winter and well into next year.

What to buy in September: The W&H shopping edit

1. Chanel Les 4 Ombres Tweed

RRP: £67

Autumn fabrics really wipe the floor with summer ones. Keep your crushed linen and shiny Lycra swimwear - I'll have cashmere and leather and buttery-soft suede, ta.

Coco Chanel knew what was up when she introduced the queen of cold-weather textiles, tweed, into womenswear nearly 100 years ago. And clearly, the Maison still does – hence these four Autumnal eye quads with multi-tonal shades inspired by Scotland's finest, swaddled in sweet little tweed jackets. They're limited-edition, naturally, and won't hang about.

2. Buly 1803 Fragrance Bath Salts

RRP: £34

It's 'lock the door on everyone you live with and wallow in warm water' season again! Bathing essentials are a personal choice, but really should involve something that smells nice (salt/oil/bubbles) something beautifying (hair mask/body scrub) and something entertaining (book/podcast/large red wine)

These ultra-posh bath salts by heritage Parisian brand Buly take care of the smell and beauty bits. They come in three gorgeous fragrances and, as well as making your shoulders drop three inches on aroma alone, are packed with detoxifying mineral salts. Say ahh.

3. Sisley Exfoliating Enzyme Mask

RRP: £90

It's an understatement to say Sisley products are on the steep side. But this brand has a deserved rep for best-in-class skincare, and we couldn't not tell you about this new face mask (that doesn't really feel like a mask at all.)

It's a powder that only takes one minute to use and behaves like a cleanser/exfoliator hybrid (add water, massage, rinse) Once wet, it transforms into an ungritty, mystifyingly creamy lather that gently shifts dead cells, and leaves skin peachy-soft, tingly, and glowing. All in 60 seconds. We've honestly never tried anything like it.

4. PEPTIDE PREP™ Detox Shampoo

RRP: £39

Just six months after its introduction to the UK market, K18's hair-strengthening Leave-In Molecular Hair Mask has revolutionised the haircare industry.

We loved the hair mask - as you can see in our K18 review (opens in new tab) - and were equally impressed when we tried the Detox Shampoo this month.

Created to provide the purest foundation possible for healthy hair, the Detox Shampoo is designed to increase the efficiency of the K18 Leave-In Molecular Hair Mask and we found that when used together our hair looked thicker and stronger afterwards. One of our favourite new beauty launches this month.

1. Sheertex Tights

RRP: from £45

The arrival of cooler weather prompts a shift in what we wear and necessitates a transitional wardrobe that can be transformed overnight to be either cooling or warming as autumn arrives. A key piece of this new season wardrobe is the re-introduction of tights, an accessory equally loved and loathed by those who wear them.

One of our primary gripes with tights is how quickly and easily they tear, wasting money and letting us down at the last minute. Enter Sheetex, tights designed to replace your whole drawer of disposables thanks to their 'rip-resistant' technology.
