Regé-Jean Page has a confession to make: he didn't like watching his steamy romance scenes in Bridgerton.

This may come as a surprise, as the actor quickly attained sex symbol status after his heart-pounding performance as the Duke of Hastings. Talking on The Hollywood Reporter's Emmy Roundtable series, he revealed his true feelings about seeing his performance in the show, and how he told his family about the more intimate scenes.

It's no secret that Bridgerton's sex scenes are the raunchiest on Netflix. For Regé though, the experience was "overwhelming."

"No one was sufficiently prepared. I wasn't sufficiently prepared, and I was there," he said laughing to the outlet. "I think people were grateful for the intensity of the romantic aspects of Bridgerton; I'm not sure how grateful I was to watch it for myself. It was overwhelming. But I think people were looking to be overwhelmed."

What might have been even harder though was when the actor had to prepare his family. If he was shy before, we can only imagine the embarrassment he must have felt at that moment. Although he was nervous, their reaction was, according to Regé, better than expected.

"My family doesn't want to be overwhelmed by my backside, specifically, too often, but they'll take it on this occasion because everyone seems to be terribly happy."

What's next for Regé-Jean Page?

The role in the Regency-era drama has had a skyrocket effect on Regé's career, and he won his first major award. But back in April, Regé announced that he won't return for season two of Bridgerton and while the real reason may shock you, it hasn't stopped the actor from pursuing other projects.

We can expect to see him on our screens again in the upcoming Paramount film Dungeons and Dragons, starring Regé alongside Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, and Justice Smith.

Though Bridgerton won't be the same without our favorite Duke there to melt our hearts, we're still looking forward to seeing what's in store for season two
