We almost didn’t recognize Mila Kunis with her new blonde hair

Mila has gone blonde but don’t worry, she’s in character!

Mila Kunis’ new blonde hair is a far cry from her signature dark, coffee brown locks in Black Swan and comedy Ted.

The actress revealed her look in the trailer for new movie Four Good Days, which sees her take on the role of Molly, a woman battling drug addiction who asks her estranged mother for support.

In fact, at first glance, Kunis is almost unrecognizable with grown-out, bleach blonde hair and dark roots.

This is largely because Kunis rarely changes her hair color. It's usually a switch up in style or cut that makes headlines – like when she sported a bob hairstyle with bangs and everyone couldn't stop talking about it.

More from woman&home.com:

The film follows Molly over the course of four days, the time during which she is required to stay sober in order to get an opioid antagonist shot, which basically keeps her body from being able to get high.

Get ready for an emotional ride as this marks the first in a series of darker, grittier roles for Kunis.

Four Good Days also stars Glenn Close who plays Molly’s mother, and is apparently based on a Washington Post article by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Eli Saslow, titled ‘How's Amanda?’ A story of truth, lies and an American addiction.

For her next project, Luckiest Girl Alive, Kunis is starring in and producing the movie version of Jessica Knoll’s novel, the plot for which centres around a woman trying to process a tragedy that happened while she was in high school.

Finally, a few words of caution before taking your strands from an espresso-like dark shade to blonde. This is not the time when you should try to dye your own hair.

It’s a dramatic makeover and you’ll need to be in the colorist's chair for several hours but to do so safely it’s advisable to use some kind of ‘plex’ treatment to protect the bonds in your hair from becoming damaged and snapping.

Ask your colorist to mix it into the dye in the salon then when you get home use Olaplex’s No.0 Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment in tandem with No.3 Hair Perfector to keep up the good work.
