The Queen's heartbreaking joke to national treasure Sir David Attenborough
The Queen's heartbreaking joke to national treasure Sir David Attenborough shows despite gloomy topics—she's always got a sense of humor
The Queen's heartbreaking joke to Sir David Attenborough shows that, despite tough times, one still has the time to be amused.
- The Queen's heartbreaking joke to the naturalist addressed the short time she has left on this earth.
- Despite the gloomy topic, her joke managed to keep things light.

Although death is no joke and some believe that the Queen's death will induce an 'ethical earthquake,' it turns out Her Majesty is able to keep a sense of humor about it all.
It was during a conversation regarding The Queen’s Green Canopy, a charity launched in honor of her Platinum Jubilee Year. The charity's aim is to encourage people to plant more trees across the globe. A worthy legacy for a woman who's planted 1500 trees in her lifetime.
As the pair were discussing the positive impact on the planet over the next 50 years, especially with regards to climate change, these trees will have—the Queen dropped a clanger. Totally deadpan she said, "I won't be here though."
The funny interaction was caught during Sir David’s documentary, The Queen’s Green Planet, while the pair walked through the Buckingham Palace gardens. Sir David also saw the funny side and it transpires that a sense of humor isn't all that they share.
The two icons of British culture were both born in London in 1926, only weeks apart. The Queen is the slightly older of the pair, born on April 21, and Sir David followed suit on May 8.
Although their connection is particularly special, Sir David is also close with other members of the Royal Family, including Prince Charles, Prince Harry, and Prince William. Prince William launched an exciting project alongside Sir David Attenborough back in 2020—but his relationship with the latest generation that's too cute to handle!
