The Queen has stepped out for her first face-to-face engagement in over a month, much to the relief of her devout followers.
Her Majesty hosted an in-person audience at Windsor Castle on Wednesday afternoon, welcoming General Sir Nick Carter to her Berkshire residence as he prepares to relinquish his role as the British Army's Chief of the Defence Staff.
The reception, which was also attended by the Queen's precious Corgi dog, came as quite a surprise to royal fans amid the recent updates of the Head of State's deteriorating health.

Her Majesty's condition has been the source of much concern over the past month, with the Queen missing the Remembrance Sunday service due to a sprained back at the weekend and skipping her Synod address in London on Tuesday.
This wave of cancellations, which have seen younger Royal Family members like Kate Middleton take on a 'significant' placement at public engagements, began in October, shortly after the Queen was spotted using a walking stick at Westminster Abbey. She has since stayed in hospital overnight for 'preliminary investigations' and pulled out of numerous events, including a trip to Northern Ireland and an appearance at the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow.
Buckingham Palace has confirmed that she is currently taking it easy at Windsor Castle and undertaking light duties while she recovers, but it looks like the hardworking royal is eager to get back to business.

Dressed in a floral green, orange, and white gown adorned by a simple pearl necklace, the 95-year-old monarch appeared in good spirits as she greeted the renowned military officer in her ornately decorated Oak Room. She was joined by her adorable Corgi, Muick, who rushed to the door in excitement upon General Sir Nick Carter's arrival. The Queen's beloved dogs are said to have been a major support in the aftermath of Prince Philip's death in April and continue to provide much-needed comfort during this difficult time.
How many Corgis does the Queen have?
Having always been a proud canine lover, Her Majesty had two dogs until August 2021—Muick, a Corgi, and Fergus, a Dorgi. Prince Andrew, the third youngest of the Queen's children, reportedly gifted the furry duo to his elderly mother after the death of her dog, Vulcan, last Christmas.
Unfortunately, Fergus has since passed away, leaving the Queen to care for just Muick. The precious Corgi, who is named after a loch near Balmoral Castle, is said to have cost a whopping £2,650 and currently enjoys a lavish lifestyle exploring the royal matriarch's sprawling country estates.
