Princess Eugenie’s adorable response to cousin Prince Harry and Meghan’s baby news as their daughter arrives just months after her son
Princess Eugenie has taken to social media to share a special message to her royal cousin
Princess Eugenie has posted a very special response to her cousin Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s baby news as their daughter arrives months after her son August was born.
- Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their second child, a daughter named Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, on Friday June 4.
- Princess Eugenie has taken to social media to share a deeply personal message to the proud parents.
- In other royal news, a royal photographer praises Kate Middleton's 'beautifully composed' family portraits.
Princess Eugenie has shared her very special congratulations to her cousin Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle after they announced the birth of their daughter. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they were expecting baby number two on Valentine’s Day and acknowledged Princess Diana in their pregnancy announcement with a sweet gesture. It was made exactly 37 years to the day that the late Princess of Wales revealed her pregnancy with Prince Harry and now the Sussexes have paid tribute to her once again with their name choice.
There had previously been a great deal of speculation about what the couple would call their second child, with some believing that they were set to name their baby girl after Prince Philip. However, instead of Philippa, they decided upon Lilibet 'Lili' Diana for their daughter. Many members of the wider Royal Family have congratulated Prince Harry and Meghan, including Lilibet's proud uncle and aunt.
Royal fans were quick to praise Prince William and Kate Middleton for their “classy” response to the birth of Prince Harry and Meghan’s daughter. But Princess Eugenie’s response is every bit as adorable, as she expressed her delight at her cousin’s news.
Princess Eugenie has recently debuted a new sleek hairstyle in a powerful video, but when it came to her most recent message on social media, it’s the Sussexes that took centre stage. Taking to Instagram Stories, Princess Eugenie shared the original black-and-white photograph that accompanied the Sussexes’ pregnancy announcement.
Over the top, she wrote, "Congratulations dear cousins . . we couldn’t be happier for you all", with the special message beginning and ending with three red heart emojis.
Her message is perhaps made even more emotional given that she became a parent herself just months earlier. Back in February, it was announced that Princess Eugenie had given birth to her first child, a son. She and her husband Jack Brooksbank went on to delightedly reveal his name, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, as they posted their first picture as a family on social media.

Princess Eugenie’s son August and Prince Harry and Meghan’s daughter Lilibet are incredibly close in age, with Zara Tindall’s son Lucas arriving in March 2020. With so many royal babies being born within months of each other, it’s wonderful to think that they could share an extra special bond as they grow up.
Their arrival makes this a truly historic time for the Queen as with Princess Beatrice’s pregnancy announcement last month, she is set to become a proud great-grandmother of twelve by the end of this year.
