Pippa Middleton gives birth to second child and gives her adorable name

It has just been announced that Pippa Middleton, the younger sister to the Duchess of Cambridge, has given birth to her second child who is reportedly named Grace.

On Monday 15 March Philippa Charlotte Matthews, née Middleton, gave birth to her second child, a daughter reportedly named Grace Elizabeth Jane Matthews.

The two have just welcomed a baby girl who was born early this morning. Hello report, "A family source told Hello that Pippa gave birth on Monday 15 March at around 4:22am. The couple have decided to name their daughter, who weighed 6lbs 7oz, Grace Elizabeth Jane. 'Mother and baby are doing well,' the source said. 'She's perfect, everyone is overjoyed at such a happy arrival.' "

Pippa married James Matthews, a former professional racing driver and now a hedge fund manager in 2017. James is the brother to TV personality and former Made in Chelsea star, Spencer Matthews. Pippa and James had their first child, a son named Arthur Michael William Matthews, in 2018 and only recently confirmed that they were expecting their second child. 

This child will be the fifth grandchild for Carole Middleton and Michael Middleton who are already grandparents to Prince William and Kate’s children, George, Charlotte, and Louis. The trio are cousins to Arthur and Pippa’s newborn little girl.  

During her first pregnancy with Arthur, Pippa spoke about her changing body in her Waitrose Weekend fitness column."When I learned the happy news that I was pregnant I realised I needed to adjust my normal four to five-day-a-week routine and find a way of continuing my exercise safely throughout the three trimesters. So, the journey of pregnancy fitness began," she said. "I've noticed my body change but through exercise, I feel it's being strengthened."

Despite being open about her first pregnancy, Pippa has remained tight-lipped about her second pregnancy. It was revealed by Pippa’s mother just a few weeks ago that she was expecting her second child. 

Carole said in an interview with Good Housekeeping Carole spoke about her desire to see her grandchildren more often once the lockdown in the UK is over. She also let slip that Pippa was indeed pregnant with the newest addition to the Middleton family. “I hope to see more of my family than I could last year, including, of course, my new grandchild,” she said.

The newborn's full name, Grace Elizabeth Jane, pays homage to Queen Elizabeth and is also the middle name shared by Grace's only maternal cousin Princess Charlotte. One of Princess Charlotte's middle names is also Elizabeth as her full title is, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. 

Charlotte's middle names take inspiration from the young royal's Great Grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and her Grandmother, the late Princess Diana. Charlotte and her siblings recently made a heartbreaking Mother’s Day tribute to their late grandmother, Princess Diana.
