What happened in the last season of Unforgotten?
Each season of Unforgotten features a new storyline that focuses on a cold case. The third season’s main story arc focused on tracking down a murdering paedophile who buried his young victim on side of a motorway.
At the end of the season, the main detective DSI Cassie Stuart (Nicola Walker) was living with her aging father and suffering mentally from the job she held for nearly 30 years. In this final scene, she chats to her partner DI Sunny Khan (Sanjeev Bhaskar) and discusses taking some time off work and possibly retiring. The series ended by DSI Stuart and DI Khan laying some flowers at the new grave of the main victim of the series.
What’s the plot of Season 4 of Unforgotten?
Every series of Unforgotten begins in the same way. A body, that has been dead for decades, is discovered and the team must investigate the cold case that surrounds these remains. However, in this series, it appears that DSI Cassie Stuart is returning back to work - reluctantly.
ITV states, “Cassie faces an impossible dilemma when she learns she isn’t entitled to her full pension payment unless she completes her thirty years of service. Disappointed and angry with her superiors and the system, Cassie has to make the gut-wrenching decision to return to work.”
ITV also revealed about the main plot, “The fourth series opens with the discovery of a dismembered body in a scrap metal yard, which the team believes has been stored in a domestic freezer for thirty years. A unique Millwall Football Club tattoo leads to the victim being identified as Matthew Walsh, a young man in his mid-twenties who went missing in March 1990.”
Is there a trailer for the fourth season of Unforgotten?
Yes, there is a trailer for the fourth season of Unforgotten. Although the trailer doesn’t give too much away, the next installment of the series looks to be just as gripping as the first three seasons of the incredible ITV drama.
The trailer reveals that Cassie has returned to work and that Sunny is now leading the team. We see that Cassie is struggling with her own demons as she menacingly says, "there is a small bit of me that wants to punish someone." We also see a whole host of new characters who make cryptic statements that give absolutely nothing away. The short trailer gives us just enough drama and intrigue to get our hopes up for tonight's episode.
