Sarah Jessica Parker shared an emotional Instagram post recently as she prepared for her eldest son James to graduate from high school.

Posting a picture of the 18-year-old, the Sex and the City star revealed that her son was on his way to his senior field day, a celebration held in American schools to commemorate the end of the academic year.

In the post, Sarah touchingly shared her thoughts about this chapter of her son James' life coming to an end, writing, "It's a milestone. Not fully understood til it's on your doorstep. And til they cross the threshold into their next mostly mysterious chapter."

As the post went on the actress explained that the milestone moment had left her and all of her family feeling "weepy" but "proud".

She said, "We, all of us Parker-Brodericks are proud, weepy and so looking forward to celebrating your coming graduation.

"Enjoy this beautiful day, you have earned it. We love you so dear Son and brother."

Some of Sarah's famous friends also reached after she shared the post, with Reese Witherspoon commenting, "Beautifully said. This one hit deep."

Bravo host Andy Cohen also said, "I’m crying. I remember James as he started his journey... and now we have Ben starting his right down the street. I’m happy we can all be in each other’s lives for the important stuff. We are all so proud of JW ❤️".
