Andrew Scott, who we all fell in love with as the hot priest in Fleabag, has apparently been cast in season five of The Crown. But fans are shocked by the character he'll be playing in the iconic Netflix series.

Fans are gobsmacked by the rumors that Andrew Scott has been cast as Tony Blair in the upcoming series of The Crown. An insider to Netflix drama revealed, “The creators wanted an adaptable actor like Andrew who has proved he can master the charm and intimidating presence that typified Blair.”

The Sun reported that Andrew has also been contacted by the Netflix show about playing the controversial Prime Minister. “The actor has held talks with the creators of the Netflix hit — and, at 44 is ideal to play the Labour leader, who was 43 when he came to power in 1997,” said The Sun. The source also revealed, “This role is one of the most anticipated castings on The Crown. The final series covers the Prime Minister’s epic clash with the Queen over her response to the death of Diana in 1997.”

Andrew came to fame as the villain, Moriarty in Sherlock and has since starred in Hollywood blockbusters such as 1917, and Bond film, Spectre. Despite these impressive roles, it was as the ‘hot priest’ in Fleabag that made Andrew Scott a household name. Fans fell in love with his character in Fleabag, which has left some fans feeling uncomfortable with his potential new role as Tony Blair.

One fan announced on Twitter, “Oh for christ’s sake I’m going to fancy Tony Blair aren't I.” Another said, “They want me to be fainting over Tony Blair the crown has an agenda, you guys.” One fan even compared this casting choice to Gillian Anderson's portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in Season Four. The fan joked, “Not satisfied with making people horny for Thatcher, it’s now time for Hot Blair.”

Production of the fifth season of The Crown has recently begun and fans are eager to see the next season of the show with the brand new cast. The new members of the cast include Imelda Staunton who will take over from Olivia Colman as the Queen, Dominic West who will play Prince Charles, Elizabeth Debicki who will play Princess Diana, and Lesley Manville who is playing Princess Margaret.

This fifth season is also the last of The Crown. Creator, Peter Morgan, confirmed, “At the outset I had imagined The Crown running for six seasons but now that we have begun work on the stories for season five it has become clear to me that this is the perfect time and place to stop. I’m grateful to Netflix and Sony for supporting me in this decision.”

We are devastated by the potential end of the show but also extremely excited about this new season and indeed Andrew playing Tony Blair.
