The couple has been married for 43 years and have their own Valentine’s traditions. In an interview with People, Jill revealed that Joe gives her a corsage of gardenias every year on Valentine’s Day.

Jill said, “I don't know when it started - a long, long time ago. I think it was for Valentine's Day," she said. "I love gardenias and so Joe would buy me a wrist corsage of gardenias. I wore it to school to teach!"

The President lost his first wife in a car accident that also killed his daughter. Jill met him as a widow with two sons, three years after the death of his wife. The President told People, "Jill came along at a really important point and put my family back together." He said, "She's the glue that held it together."

Jill also posted on Instagram on Valentine’s Day and gave fans an insight into what the President was receiving as a gift. Dr. Jill posted a photo of her shopping at a cake shop with the caption, “Dropped by @thesweetlobby earlier to pick up some Valentine’s treats for the weekend. Shhh – don’t tell Joe!”

Dr. Jill looked relaxed and at ease with her hair in a ponytail and a mask on her face. Fans loved The First Lady’s hair accessories in this image, “rockin' the scrunchie, love it!” said one.

The day before Valentine’s Day, Jill took to Instagram to share the decorations for the White House lawn. The First Lady hand-painted large red hearts with inspiring words on them such as Courage, Love, and Compassion.

Fans appreciated the First Lady's effort to share some love on Valentine's Day. One wrote, “Cause a LADY fulfills her duties with LOVE. And class. Yes, Doctor!” Another commented, “your teacher side is showing and I am LOVING it!”
