Helly Hansen W Monashee Ullr Low HT specifications
Size range: UK 3.5-8
Who will the Helly Hansen W Monashee Ullr Low HT suit?
The Helly Hansen W Monashee Ullr Low HT walking boots will suit anyone who wants to wear protective yet lightweight boots every day.
What are the Helly Hansen W Monashee Ullr Low HT like to wear?
The Helly Hansen W Monashee Ullr Low HT are easy to put on (you don’t have to squeeze your feet in awkwardly) and felt extremely comfortable immediately – even with thin socks. I didn't have to break them in at all and they didn’t rub or cause any pain. The arch support is great and they have a cushioned midsole, which really makes a difference to any impact felt. The laces are quite long once tied, but you can tuck them down the sides.
Perhaps the best bit about these is how they protect from the elements, but, at around 500g, are not too heavy for daily wear, especially in the winter. You could walk in these for miles and they won’t weigh you down. Plus, as they are low rise, they don’t restrict your movement in the same way some full boots can.
The Helly Hansen W Monashee Ullr Low HT design
These walking boots are available in multiple colourways. You can pick from Deep Lagoon, which are turquoise and orange; Charcoal, which are dark grey and pink; plain Black; and Fallen Rock, which are grey with flashes of purple. I tried and tested a pair of the latter. Compared with a lot of other walking boots available, these are not that sleek and stylish. They don’t really have wow factor and are more practical than fashionable.
The sole is chunky and the whole boot is very wide, so your feet look a lot bigger than they actually are. And, while the low-rise element might make them seem like a pair of chunky trainers, they still have the practical vibe of a walking boot. Having said that, the design is still likeable and very unisex, which will appeal to a lot of people.
The versatility of the Helly Hansen W Monashee Ullr Low HT
This is where the Helly Hansen W Monashee Ullr Low HT walking boots score well. They really are a go-to pick that you’d probably start to favour over trainers, just as they are much more practical when the weather is changeable.
They are comfortable and flexible enough to be worn both on long hikes in the city and for any messy outdoor activities in the countryside. They are the type of walking boots that aren’t so mega expensive that you have to worry about them getting muddy. These would work well walking the dogs or mucking out horses at the stables, plus for shorter walks in wet or snowy conditions.
Sizing and comfort of the Helly Hansen W Monashee Ullr Low HT
I tried and tested a UK size five pair of the Helly Hansen W Monashee Ullr Low HT and found them to be a perfect fit and very true to size. I have wide feet and they are a good width, with a large toe box. They are comfortable, with a generous amount of padding on the tongue and heel. They have a fair amount of cushioning in the sole, which really helps protect joints against impact. I could still connect with where I was placing my feet and wasn’t bouncing around everywhere.
Plus, I genuinely felt they boosted my walking speed. In fact, during one test, I was asked to slow down by fellow walkers, as they gave me such an extra spring in my step.
How well do the Helly Hansen W Monashee Ullr Low HT grip?
As I was heading out on one hike to test these walking boots, it started raining heavily. Yet, my feet stayed dry, protected, warm and cosy, and it meant that the rain did not deter me at all. I walked over wet grass, pavement, mud and several wet drain covers, and I didn’t skid, which is thanks to the deep, multi-directional lugs and HellyGrip carbon rubber sole. I felt safe and secure while out and about wearing them.
How do the Helly Hansen W Monashee Ullr Low HT rate online?
Online reviews for the Helly Hansen W Monashee Ullr Low HT are very good, with many users agreeing that the sizing is accurate and true. Plus, almost every review I read found that they are 100% waterproof.
Are the Helly Hansen W Monashee Ullr Low HT worth buying?
Yes, these boots are definitely worth buying. They are a reasonable price, especially if you can shop around for a discount, and you can use them for so many different activities that you will always get your investment back.
If you’re short on time and need to make a quick purchase, then these are ideal, as they don’t rub and are comfortable on day one.
