The best white trainers to put a spring in your step this season

It's finally white trainers weather

I'm not sure what I'd wear on my feet most days if it wasn't for my best white trainers. The ultimate wardrobe staple, they are practical and comfortable if you're on your feet all day, and they add a casual edge to any look. Loved by royals, celebrities, and the fashion set, the best white trainers transcend dress codes, seasons, and age.

Finding the most comfortable trainers will transform how you dress every day, and even more so if they're go-with-everything white. Between myself and several other members of the woman&home team, we've narrowed the huge amount of choice out there down to just six favourites. We thought about comfort, fit, style, and how easy they are to keep clean, but we've also considered the very best brands and the different occasions you'll want to wear white trainers for. How you might style them - from teaming them with the best jeans for your body type to midi dresses and tailored trousers - was, of course, at the forefront of our minds too.

Fashion Channel Editor Rivkie Baum spends a lot of time running after her active toddler, so trainers are her go-to footwear. She was already familiar with FitFlop's ergonomic sandals, but the Rally was her first experience of the brand's trainers.

She loved the minimal, logo-free design. She reported that the sleek leather finish gives them a smart and polished feel, making them ideal for smarter events or days at work. Although she was worried they looked a little heavy in photos before they arrived, she called them 'light as a cloud'. In fact, she called them "the lightest pair of shoes I have ever owned".

Rivkie's not the only fan, either. Future's Lucy Searle knows her stuff when it comes to trainers, too. She has mild plantar fasciitis in both feet and potentially arthritis, but she called the Rally style "springy", and said that even after twenty thousand steps "my feet felt nowhere near as achy as usual. For me, that’s the biggest sell."

As with all FitFlop designs, these have all the tech you'd hope for. They're "ergonomically engineered to help optimise your body's alignment", boast natural arch support and have an average to wide fit.

woman&home's Fashion Writer Molly Smith considered herself to be a bit of a newbie when it came to trainers, as she could never make them fit with her sense of style. These classic canvas Supergas certainly changed her mind!

Although these don't have a plush padded insole like some others, they still offer enough support for daily wear. Molly took them on a trip to Ibiza, and called them "comfortable enough to see me through a train ride, airport security, and flying overseas, and of course I wore them whilst exploring the island too."

They're incredibly lightweight and really quite affordable too. The RRP might be £65, but you can very often find discounted prices on Amazon, for as little as £30.

You can wash these in the machine, and they are a favourite of Kate Middleton's, which is a testament to how stylish they are.

Retro trainers have been a huge trend lately, and of all the nostalgic styles on the market, the Reebok Club C 85 trainers came out on top for us.

One of the best British clothing brands, Reebok is throwing it back to the Eighties with this casual but classic trainer. Woven into the design, the brand's Reebok logo on the side gives this pair a heritage feel that offers a vintage aesthetic to your look. If your everyday wardrobe always includes jeans, Molly said they are "almost made to be paired with denim".

They have a soft leather upper, a low-cut design, a padded foam sock liner, and a durable rubber outsole. But be aware that they can come up small, so we'd recommend sizing up. Molly said they were so comfortable, she "barely noticed them on my feet".

She did, however, point out that the fit is slightly narrower than the others on our list, so they're not ideal for anyone with wider feet. Another thing to note is that they slip slightly at the back, so perhaps an insole would help.

Unlike the slim, sleek white trainers on this list, these are the best white trainers for an everyday sporty feel.

Minimal arch support

I tested these myself, and when I say tested, I mean I've been wearing them for years. I own several pairs - because when you find a pair of trainers you really love, you should stock up, right?

This minimalist design is super versatile, and the thing I really love about these is that they're an iconic style that continues to dominate, whatever the trainer trends of the moment. They're also so easy to wipe clean, and with a new pair of laces every once in a while, they'll look pretty close to box fresh.

For me, the only drawback is the long tongue - I find it can cut into the front of your foot, but you can easily push it down underneath the laces. I have read that other people don't find they have enough arch support, so if that's something you're after, the FitFlop Rally is the most supportive style on our list.

I've worn them to do thousands of steps, including days at work, going away for a city break or walking the dog. They're the style I always come back to, and would recommend to friends. My all-time favourites, for sure.

All-white is easier to mark

Freelance Fashion Writer and Stylist Lucy Trievnor tested these Skechers trainers. She had high expectations, being a Skechers fan already, and she certainly wasn't disappointed.

With their 1 1/4 inch sole flatform sole, the Jade slip-ins are a really wearable style that will easily fit into your everyday wardrobe. They're incredibly lightweight, and Lucy loved the slip-on design. Let's face it, laces can be a bit of a faff, can't they? With these, you just slip your feet in and go - you don't even need to reach down to guide your foot in. It's not necessary to re-tie the laces throughout the day, and they're so quick to get on and off.

The air-cooled memory foam gives you a very cushioned feeling, and the heel pillow holds your foot in place so there's no danger of any rubbing or blisters. Looks-wise, these are spot on if you're looking for smart casual outfit ideas. They're definitely smart enough to wear for work or with tailoring, but casual enough to elevate your joggers for errands too.

With an RRP of £70, this feels very reasonable for a pair of flatform trainers. We also tried a pair of £220 Russell & Bromley slip-on trainers, and the Skechers could give them a run for their money!

Not only are they incredibly comfortable and need no wearing-in time, but these are also machine washable - a huge plus point if you like your white trainers to stay looking fresh.

Freelancer Fashion Editor Antonia Kraskowski jumped at the chance to rave about her favourite trainers. The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Low Top sneakers are, in her opinion, the best white trainers to wear with dresses. So much so that she wore them on her wedding day!

The low profile is flattering as it finishes below the ankle bone, and the standard canvas material version adds minimal bulk to your foot, resulting in a sleek and streamlined look. They're incredibly versatile, and you'll find yourself reaching for these day after day.

The canvas style is extremely low maintenance, since you can throw them in the washing machine, and the price point makes them one of the most affordable options in our shortlist.

Antonia points out they're a must for holidays, particularly if you're only packing hand luggage, since they're so lightweight and versatile. You can rely on them to be comfortable, however much sightseeing you're doing, plus you can dress them or down depending on your plans.

How we tested the best white trainers

collage of white trainers

(Image credit: Caroline Parr, Antonia Kraskowski and Molly Smith)

First things first, we did our research. We thought a lot about the most popular white trainers on the market, which are highly rated by customers, and which styles our fashion team really recommends. Between us all, we've worn a lot of white trainers in our time!

The adidas and Converse were all no-brainers, as several of us had tried them and loved them.

Finding trainers to suit everyone is a tricky task, so we made sure we thought about a variety of styles and needs. For example, Molly wasn't a big wearer of trainers before now. The Superga changed her mind!

Check out how we test trainers for more on the process, but these were the main factors we considered when road testing each trainer:

Comfort and support: We ask a lot from trainers, but of course, comfort is key. From running errands to doing your 10,000 steps, we weren't shy in putting the trainers through their paces. We thought about arch support, cushioning, whether they were true to size and if there was any initial break-in period.

Style: White trainers are there to work with lots of different outfits, so we considered which silhouettes would work with jeans, and which were perfect for teaming with dresses. We evaluated the quality and finish of each design, and thought about which are in vogue right now. Retro trainers are everywhere, so the Reeboks were a good fit, but of course, we wanted classics that would go beyond trends.

Cleaning and care: This is a dealbreaker when it comes to the best white trainers. How easy they are to clean is key to their longevity, and we all love trainers that look like they're fresh out of the box.

How to choose the best white trainers

"The trainer trend isn't going anywhere this season. In fact, the global sneaker market is set to reach a whopping $30 billion by 2030, so if you've previously stepped away from the look, now is the time to invest," says Hannah Eichler, stylist, writer, and fashion lecturer. "The trick is to look for never-date styles which will lend themselves to your entire wardrobe," she adds.

We recommend you look to brands with expertise in the field, such as adidas, Converse, and Superga, over fashion retailers, as they will have the technical know-how to craft comfortable and supportive sneakers, and whose signature styles have proven longevity.

If you have wider feet or need extra support, check out brands such as Birkenstock and Fitflop, which specialise in comfort fits with nods to classic styles. You want to invest in a pair of trainers that you could happily wear all day without pain, so it's worth spending a little bit more to get the perfect fit.

Aside from comfort, you will want to consider which pair of white trainers will best suit your lifestyle. Do you want a bit of a platform to add height, or do you need a flexible sole that is designed for being on the move?

The best white trainers for you are the ones that you can see yourself wearing for years to come. If you like the minimalist look, a pair of all-white, sleek lace-ups will probably be your best investment. But if you have a slightly bolder fashion sense, a pair of trainers with a subtle pop of colour or brand logo will suit you better.

The ones that just missed the list

We started with 21 styles on the list, which, as you can imagine, was tough to whittle down to just 6.

The Veja V12 was probably the first runner-up. woman&home's Health Editor Grace Walsh rated them really highly, telling us: "I've had my pair for about three years now and I love them - they're durable and only get comfier with age, and can be wiped clean after wading through most weather conditions." Veja has a strong focus on transparency, fair trade, and social and environmental responsibility, and uses ecological and sustainable materials - ideal if you're shopping more consciously. It also offers good quality vegan-friendly styles made from leather alternatives that will pair perfectly with white jeans outfits.

Styles by AllBirds, Vans, Bobbies, New Balance and Lacoste were all on the shortlist too, but the white trainers we decided on scored more highly. You'll notice that all six on our list got 4 stars or more from our reviewers, so the bar was high!

How to make the best white trainers last

Of course, white trainers need some upkeep to maintain that box-fresh look - and preventing stains as much as possible is better than fixing them. So with that in mind:

  • Avoid wearing your best white trainers on wet weather days, as even the rain can stain a white trainer.
  • Steer clear of mud and grass.
  • Big city centres can also increase the grime attracted to bright white shoes.

However, if you do get white shoes dirty, don't panic, they can often be revived. “Taking care of your trainers is essential to look after your investment. Avoid using the washing machine, which will break down the glue and cause trainers to become misshapen," explains Eichler. Instead, check out our instructions on how to clean white shoes.

FAQs

Are white trainers in fashion for 2026?

We can't imagine white trainers will ever go out of style, but they are particularly popular at the moment. Comfortable shoes are everywhere this season, with flat boots and ballet flats being some of the most sought-after styles, so it's only natural that trainers continue to be worn by the fashion crowd.

As one of the most versatile and sophisticated shades out there, white trainers in particular get infinite style points. Adding a pair of white trainers to your look will instantly add a chic, sporty edge, so they are ideal for casual yet stylish wear.

What trainers does Kate Middleton wear?

Kate Middleton is everyone's favourite style icon, and in the last few years she's really shown a more casual side to her style. Forget the nude LK Bennett court heels of early years Kate; the Princess of Wales' go-to brands for everyday white trainers are Superga and Veja. For more sporty engagements she's worn white trainers by Lululemon.
