Prince William and Duchess Catherine spread festive cheer on Sunday evening as they surprised commuters at Euston station with a performance from 80s pop star, Shakin’ Stevens.

The couple dropped a major hint that Merry Christmas Everyone is their favourite festive bop by inviting the pop star along to raise Christmas spirits as part of their Royal Train Tour - the first tour of its kind since the global pandemic began.

The Duchess can even be seen swaying along to the music in a video posted to their Instagram account.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are using Her Majesty’s Royal Train to make the 1,250-trip across Scotland, England and Wales to shine a spotlight on those who have gone “above and beyond” during these testing times.

Weeks after Prince William praised researchers for "cracking" the covid-19 vaccine.

Before boarding the train, William and Catherine - who share three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis - met with staff and transport workers at Euston - who have “gone out of their way to ensure people feel safe and secure throughout this difficult time.”

Praising Alero Abbey, Transport for London Area Manager for Green Park and Euston, William, 38, said, "It's moments like this when people really appreciate what you do every day. Suddenly we all know what you do and that you do a really good job.”

The Duchess wrapped up in an Alexander McQueen coat and teamed it with a tartan scarf and black boots and a small black handbag.

In another snippet posted on Instagram, the Duke can be seen helping his wife on board the train as they set off on their whistle-stop tour of Great Britain, amid reports lockdown was a "gift" for the couple and their family.

The caption read, “The Duke and Duchess are off!

“This evening, The Duke and Duchess departed on the #RoyalTrainTour to pay tribute to the inspiring work of those who have gone above and beyond to support communities across England, Scotland, and Wales.

“We hope you can join us here, in thanking these amazing individuals and organisations along the way, in what has been a challenging year for the nation.”
