Why you can trust Woman & Home
When it comes to a cosy and comfortable sleep, Cuddledown really knows what they're doing.
We all know that the best pillows are the ones that we come across when we treat ourselves to a night in a fancy hotel. But those same pillows never seem to be available in real life because no matter how hard we try, once we head out of those gold rotating doors the plush, comfortable pillow seems to elude us. But in our opinion, Cuddledown’s Edelweiss Hungarian Goose Down Pillow does hotel pillow even better thanks to its extra layer of support.
As much as we love a hotel pillow, they’re not always the most supportive. And while we think the Sealy pillow achieves the ultimate level of support hand-in-hand with a hotel-like feel, it won’t give you that soft, plump feel that you might be looking for. So for any hotel pillow seekers who don’t need the utmost support in a pillow or aren’t a fan of anything too firm, the Cuddledown will hug your head and neck just enough while giving you a night of luxurious comfort.

We will admit, this pillow is one hell of a commitment when it comes to price, so you have to be sure that it really is the one for you before splashing out. The best place to buy it is the Cuddledown website itself—and luckily they do often run discounts and deals on it so that you can save a little money. It also appears on Amazon now and then, but isn't always available. However, when it is it's usually a bit cheaper than on the Cuddledown website, so it's worth keeping an eye on.
Pillow type and design
A goose down filling brings the luxury of a five-star hotel to this cloudy pillow, which boasts medium firmness for just enough support to keep you pain-free whilst you bask in its high-end quality. Possibly our favourite thing about the design of this pillow is the soft but crisp 100% cotton sateen 400 thread count casing, which features a chic silver sateen piping. It’s so beautiful it almost makes you feel guilty for covering it with a pillow case.
First impressions
A pretty plump pillow that definitely doesn’t look like it’s going flat anytime soon, the quality of this was clear straightaway. Even after a couple of punches, this bounced straight back without leaving some much as a dent in the top. It does come across slightly intimidating for those who are used to something a bit more modest, but the movement that comes with the goose down filling nips that in the bud as soon as you lay your head down.
What is it like to sleep on?
This is one of those pillows that makes you excited to get into bed. The second you sink into it at bedtime will fast become the most pleasurable moment of the day. If you’re used to a firmer pillow, this one might take some getting used to, but it does keep you comfortable throughout the night with its extra down support that softly cradles the neck.
Will it suit my sleeping position?
We’d say this one would work better for anyone who sleeps on their back, as the medium firmness and plump filling means that front sleepers may suffer from a bit of neck ache the next morning. The extra 20% filling of goose down adds a bit more firmness to the pillow and stops it from sinking quite so much when you lay your head down, making it suitable for side sleepers.
Any trials or guarantees?
Cuddledown offers a 60-return policy, however only if the pillow has been unused. They permit you to open the packaging to get a feel of the product before making your decision, but any returns have to be sent back to the brand unused and in their original packaging. They do offer a five-year guarantee for the customer’s peace of mind.
What’s not good about the Cuddledown Edelweiss Hungarian Goose Down pillow
Our only gripe with this pillow is that it is on the softer side so it doesn't offer the most support. If you suffer from neck or back problems you'll probably be better off going for something plush but a bit more supportive like the Sealy Zonal Support pillow, as even with the extra 20% filling this pillow doesn't offer as much support as the Sealy.
Cuddledown Edelweiss Hungarian Goose Down pillow Verdict
In the same way as a plush pillow from a fancy hotel calls you to bed with its soft bounce and cloudy feel, this Cuddledown option does the same. Of course, for the amount of money it sets you back, this hotel-like pillow is not entirely a surprise but it sure does make it feel worth it each night when you lay your head back. If you’re someone who struggles with intense neck, shoulder or back problems, it may not provide you with the support that you need, so you might want to opt for one of our best pillows for neck pain instead. But it definitely does better than most of the softer offerings we've experienced in hotels, but with the same cloudy, plush feel. So if you’re after exactly what you would find in a hotel but with more support for your neck, then this one will do it —just about.
