Susanna Reid's caramel dress proves the 2026 suede trend isn't only about boots and jackets - it elevates autumn style
The woman&home cover star and broadcaster gave us a sign to start adding more texture to our cold weather outfits
There are several new autumn/winter fashion trends that have emerged ready for the season, from military detailing to new boho, but one that continues to dominate is suede. Suede and faux suede pieces had a surge in popularity last autumn and haven't gone anywhere since. Many of us already have our go-to pair of suede boots, jacket or trench, however Susanna Reid took things a step further on Good Morning Britain.
The broadcaster, who is also woman&home's wonderful centenary issue cover star, shared a snap of herself wearing a knee-length faux suede frock by Sosandar on 22nd September. This rich caramel shade is arguably the most timeless option when it comes to suede, with dark brown a close second.

If you love the aesthetic of Ranvir's dress but prefer a midi hemline then this pinafore frock is a beautiful alternative. It's sleeveless so you can add a pop of colour with whatever you wear underneath, from long-sleeved T-shirts to jumpers or shirts.
Mango describes this suede jacket as burnt orange, but I can't help feeling it's more of a chestnut - either way, it's a gorgeous warm tone. This piece is currently on sale and has a smart collared neckline and buttons running up the front, as well as patch pockets.
Falling in an A-line shape with panels to give it extra shaping, this faux suede skirt is a cost-effective way to embrace the suede trend this season. It's the perfect piece to style with knitwear and boots when you want to add textural contrast. The tan tone is timeless and goes with so many autumnal colours, from burgundy to brown.
Also available in a soft olive tone, these M&S faux suede trousers have a straight-leg cut and high-rise waist. They come in four different lengths and are made from soft faux suede with a hint of stretch to it. The concealed hook and zip fastening keeps the minimalist look and there are two patch pockets.
Ballet flats are a classic footwear style for a reason and this pair from M&S have a square toe giving them a slightly more contemporary edge. There's a delicate bow on the front and they're made from suede. The refined shape makes these a great option when you want to be comfy but look polished.
Chocolate brown is a big autumn/winter trend and it's also an incredibly versatile colours, making this faux suede skirt an easy and elegant choice. It fastens with a concealed zip and falls to midi-length. Wear with tall boots and a blouse, or go all out and style with a suede jacket too.

The Good Morning Britain star completed her outfit with beige pointed court shoes and joked that it looked like she was wearing suede leggings, but confirmed they are actually “your average tights”.
Knee-high boots would also have looked fabulous with this on a colder day, however Susanna Reid was filming the show indoors and tends to stick with classic heels for a formal edge. Her look still was a reminder that this fabric works so well for more than just footwear or outerwear.
In autumn/winter most people tend to rely on layering and incorporating textural contrast is a simple way to add more dimension. This is particularly useful when you're wearing just one or a couple of colours, as different textures break things up and stop the outfit looking flat.
Suede and faux suede also bring softness to your style which can make an outfit look more casual. It's lovely against smooth structured leather, plush velvet or cosy knitwear - all of which are also popular this time of year.
Susanna is a fan of leather pencil skirts and often wears them on Good Morning Britain, so it's interesting to see her embracing suede instead. For a more understated take on the trend, go for a suede skirt, trousers or shirts instead.
Of course, if you want to add a lot of texture then you can go all-out and style a suede skirt with a suede jacket or boots, for example. Suede clothing tends to be quite neutral so there are so many ways you can mix and match items together.
