Many fashion trends come and go over the years.
Meanwhile, there’s some fashion classics that just never go out of style, no matter how long they hang on your wardrobe’s rail.
Of course, iconic staples like the little black dress, the smart tailored blazer and the fresh white T-shirt will forever be must-have parts of a fashion stash.
But thanks to some vital new research conducted by Samsung, the most loved style trend of all time has been confirmed.
According to the 2,000 Brits surveyed, the mini skirt is the number one clothing collection must-have.
Perfect for pairing with tights and boots in winter, wearing with bare legs and sandals in summer, rocking with a coordinating blazer for an uber smart vibe or teaming with heels for a nighttime look, the trusty mini skirt is a key number for those with a timeless fashion sense.
Coming in at second place is the LBD, with a quarter of women claiming the classically sexy and chic option as a favourite. Paired with heels, a red lip and statement jewellery, it’s insanely simple yet so effective.
Also nabbing a spot in the top ten are notorious bits from decades past, like the platform shoes and flared trousers made famous in the 60s and 70s and the shoulder pads known for their prominence in 1980s fashion.
Of course, plenty of key denim pieces made the ranks, with the likes of skinny jeans, denim jackets and boot cuts appearing in the top 30 list, while leather biker jackets, dungarees and laid back band T-shirts have stood the test of time too.
Half of the study’s participants agreed that they rate their long lasting wardrobe items so highly because they “go with everything”, while the other half have clung on to the classics because they fit perfectly.
“Our study just goes to show that there are many memorable trends from over the years, and as a result people are hanging on to items they perceive to be classics, while also investing in vintage finds,” says Dan Harvie, vice president of home appliances at Samsung.
