Coming in at second place is the LBD, with a quarter of women claiming the classically sexy and chic option as a favourite. Paired with heels, a red lip and statement jewellery, it's insanely simple yet so effective.
Also nabbing a spot in the top ten are notorious bits from decades past, like the platform shoes and flared trousers made famous in the 60s and 70s and the shoulder pads known for their prominence in 1980s fashion.

About our deals
Of course, plenty of key denim pieces made the ranks, with the likes of skinny jeans, denim jackets and boot cuts appearing in the top 30 list, while leather biker jackets, dungarees and laid back band T-shirts have stood the test of time too.
Half of the study's participants agreed that they rate their long lasting wardrobe items so highly because they "go with everything", while the other half have clung on to the classics because they fit perfectly.
