It was a trend that seemed to come out of nowhere but quickly took the high street by storm, and now, as we move toward autumn, I predict that a checked version of the sporty cover-up is set to cause the same level of shopping hysteria.

I have already started to clock bomber jackets covered in heritage-style squares and micro-ginghams from some of the best high street brands, and it’s making me hugely excited for the new season. The blend of relaxed fit and zip fronts paired with vintage-style prints is such a chic combination and creates a high-low aesthetic that means that this latest iteration of the funnel neck jacket will easily be one of the most versatile pieces in your capsule wardrobe this autumn - in fact, it might actually be a little more wearable than the spotty version from earlier this year.
