Foreo Luna 4 Plus review: Is this the smartest cleansing tool of all time?
Our beauty writer put this high-tech cleansing device to the test
I was sceptical about the LED element of this facial cleansing tool and whether it was powerful enough to make a noticeable difference. However, I was impressed with its brightening abilities and benefitted from all three of its benefits - cleansing, massage, and LED. Despite being an investment, if you consider it's essentially three tools in one, the price feels much more balanced. It's also very easy and pleasant to use, and stylishly designed.

And the newest launch from Foreo combines a facial massaging tool, with a cleansing device and an LED light in one.
Being tasked with trying out the newest tool on the block, I was excited to see if the device could be crowned the best red light therapy device I've tried. Especially as my skin has been struggling with the recent weather changes. I was keen to restore my complexion to its former glory and what better way to do this than by trying out the Foreo Luna 4 Plus for a few weeks?
Our Beauty Writer's full Foreo Luna 4 PLUS review
Our first impressions of the Foreo Luna 4 PLUS facial cleansing tool
Compared to the Foreo Luna 4, the PLUS is a little larger and slightly heavier (despite still being incredibly lightweight). The box comes with a QR code, a USB charging cable and a handy travel bag.
My slight bugbear with this is that it encourages you to use the Foreo app to control your device. You need to set up an account to do this and therefore can take a while before you get started. So, if you aren't particularly tech-savvy then this might not be the tool for you. Despite this, the app does have a lot of amazing features like a full instructions manual, device care info, find my device and cleansing, massage and treatment tutorials. You must first activate and unlock the device using the Foreo For You app. This is to protect against fake products and to make it easier to register the warranty. After you've done this you can use your device manually by pressing the buttons on the brush.
Despite the initial (slightly) faffy setup, once you've created your account on the app it is very easy to use. You can personalise every step of the device, meaning you can select exactly how many seconds you want the brush to cleanse or massage areas of your face and can create tailored programs to suit your specific wants and needs. I think this is a really clever touch - it means you can get the most out of your device.
How does the Foreo Luna 4 Plus perfrom?
Once you've set up your device, the Foreo Luna 4 Plus is so simple to use. You can either use the app to set your preferences for cleansing and massage or use the buttons manually. I set mine up for a 60-second morning cleanse and then two minutes in the evening. The device gently vibrates when you're using it and you can feel a slight warmth when the LED lights come on.
I applied my cleanser directly onto the Foreo Luna 4 PLUS, and then quickly ran it underwater. You then hold directly onto your skin and let the device do all the hard work for you. I like to use circular motions when using the device and this produces a light lather from my cleansing products. After your elected cleansing time is up, rinse your face to remove excess product and pat dry with a clean cloth.
Immediately after use my skin felt unbelievably soft, smooth and fresh. The deep clean the Foreo Luna 4 Plus offers is so much more than what you can achieve with just your hands. The pulsations combined with the near-infrared LED light boost collagen and gently heat the skin to temporarily dilate the pores - this allows the brush to reach the dirt and oil trapped deep within.
On the massage setting you can select how strong you require the pulsations to be and for how long. Then you can pick which sort of massage you would like, options for this include deep tissue, lymphatic drainage (my favourite) and three others. It really does feel like a facial - I used this setting a couple of times a week after my evening cleanse and I can see a difference in my eye bags and how it depuffs my face.
How does the Foreo Luna 4 Plus compare to other cleansing devices?
While there are a few other rival LED cleansing brushes, I doubt others are as advanced as the Foreo Luna 4 Plus. Despite my moan about the initial app set-up, the personalised app is what sets Foreo apart from competitors. You won't find this level of skin tailoring or guided tutorials from other brands.
As previously mentioned, I have tried other Foreo devices, including the Foreo Luna 4 which has all the other elements but minus the LED light. For the extra money, I think having the extra LED element is worth it for the benefits I noticed after just a few weeks of use.
Should you buy the Foreo Luna 4 Plus cleansing device?
If you're looking to invest in a cleansing brush, a firming, brightening, or sculpting device, and possibly even an LED face mask or tool then this multi-tasking gem should be at the top of your beauty wishlist. Offering so many incredible skin benefits like deep cleansing, firming, sculpting and brightening, this nifty little device really does it all.
I think the Foreo Luna 4 PLUS cleansing tool is a device that can easily slot into your everyday skincare routine and will offer you immediate plumping and refreshing results. After a couple of weeks of use, I can say that I've seen a noticeable difference in how plump and clean my skin looks, with a subtle radiance returning. I also noticed that a couple of my blemishes disappeared within a couple of days thanks to the LED powers in the brush. I have really enjoyed using this and would recommend it to any skincare lover who is looking to boost their complexion's health and happiness.
