Drew Barrymore has opened up on the added 'sense of control' she gains by having a spring clean of her closet.

To kickstart the month of March, as most of us think we really should get round to Googling how to declutter your home, the talk show host has delved straight in to clear out the contents of her main closet inside her $8.3m four-bedroom duplex located on Manhattan's posh Park Avenue.

It comes after Drew, 46, explained why she's never had plastic surgery

She told her 22.5m followers, "It's March 1. I am a woman on the edge. I am going to Marie Kondo my life," referring to the Japanese organizing consultant, whose Netflix series challenged viewers to keep only what 'sparks joy.'

Drew, might want to clean the kitchen quickly and easily next, as she debated where to put a mini-fridge full of make-up gifted from Jennifer Lopez just days earlier.

Drew began emptying the contents of her closet onto the floor, her two cats wandered around the pile of clothing - thankfully our pets are not are irritating as getting rid of unwanted fruit flies.

"I'm going to do "spring cleaning" and hope that it gives me a sense of control because this is the only thing I can control," she explained.

"And everything feels out of control. And control is bumper rails and hopefully, it's to boundaries and safety - if I can get that out of cleaning the main closet then how exciting is that? Happy spring cleaning. May it bring whatever you are looking for!'

But it looks like Drew is sparking joy among her followers, as among the commenters was the former child star's second ex-husband Tom Green, who posted three cry-laughing emojis.

Drew and the 49-year-old Canadian comedian - who divorced in 2002 after 15 months - reunited after 15 years during a September episode of her self-titled talk show.

Drew recently gave fans a sneak peek at her home, and she looks like she has all the best pillows for a comfy night's sleep after all that cleaning as her dogs were pictured curled up on her bed.

Her most recent ex-husband, Will Kopelman is due to celebrate the seventh birthday of their daughter Frankie next month, and they're also parents to eight-year-old daughter Olive.
