It's no secret that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge travel a lot for royal engagements, with both nationwide and overseas tours an integral part of their service to the Crown.
Prince William and Kate Middleton's Caribbean trip, which includes stops in the Bahamas, Belize, and Jamaica, has been confirmed as their first foreign visit together since the pandemic began.
In pre-Covid times, the couple was known for flying to destinations across the globe on behalf of the Royal Family—with their last joint appearance taking them to Ireland in March 2020.
While the Cambridge children have tagged along on occasion in the past, William and Kate typically prefer to leave them in the care of their nannies at Kensington Palace when they travel abroad. Not only do many of these overseas trips take place during the school year, but they also involve long hours and endless waiting—two things that aren't exactly kid-friendly.
Prince George famously threw a mini tantrum when the family's landed in Berlin in 2017, after already spending a tiring two days attending VIP events in Poland. The stressful moment likely prompted Will and Kate to rethink taking their children on another royal tour—at least, until they're a bit older.
Luckily, it seems like the couple is still determined to involve their kids in their jet-setting adventures. Prince William has revealed that he and Kate have established an adorable tradition with George, 8, Charlotte, 6, and Louis, 3, before they leave town on royal duties to ensure they don't feel left out of the fun.

Speaking to local Liz Brewer during the couple's trip to Abergavenny, Wales on Tuesday, the Duke revealed that his children "are always asking us where are going. And we always them where are on the map."
The sweet ritual will likely occur once again at the end of this month, before Kate and Will head to the Caribbean for a 12-day tour. The trip, which is expected to have an ecological focus, will see the couple take on the responsibility of strengthening ties with the region's Commonwealth nations in the hope of maintaining its relationship with the monarchy.
