Senior Royal Family members, including Prince William and Kate Middleton, have tweeted birthday wishes to Lilibet, daughter of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, who turns one today.

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall led the way for birthday wishes to Lilibet, the youngest of the Queen's grandchildren, on her first birthday. Prince William and Duchess Catherine, Lilibet's uncle and and aunt, also sent well wishes in honor of the special day shortly afterward.

"Wishing Lilibet a very happy 1st birthday today!" wrote Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla Parker Bowels. While the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall said, "Wishing a very happy birthday to Lilibet, turning one today!"

But royal fans were quick to criticize the messages, with one disgruntled fan writing in response to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's tweet, "That’s nice, however it’s very disrespectful to all of your cousins when you favour Archie & Lillibet over them. Especially as Peter and Zara are more than happy for us to see their children growing up. Please include all of the children or none of them."

While another said, "Well said, Zara, Mike, Peter all a lot closer to William & Catherine than his biological brother, so yes would be lovely to see birthday wishes being sent to their children."

Others were quick to defend William and Catherine, with one twitter user responding, "Oh, good grief. They’re damned if they do, damned if they don’t."

Others praised "classy" William and Kate for their message, with one writing on Twitter, "Classy Cambridges. Happy birthday Lilibet." While another said, "You guys are very classy and dignified! HPB."

The birthday wishes come after the Queen is reported to have met Lilibet for the first time at the annual Trooping the Color event, which was part of the ongoing Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Her Majesty met Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s little girl on Thursday, which was the first time the grandmother has spent time with Meghan, Harry and both their children since they stepped down from royal duties back in 2020 and moved out of their home in Frogmore Cottage overseas to California.

Meghan and Harry, Lilibet's parents, didn't actually attend the official family parade, nor did they appear on the Trooping the Color balcony to watch the flypast with the Queen, watching from the Major General's Office instead.

It was after the parade that Her Majesty had chance to catch up with Harry, Meghan and their children, a source told Entertainment Tonight.

The celebrations started from Thursday 2 June and will conclude on Sunday 5 June. Royal fans have been able to catch up with the action at home by watching the Platinum Jubilee on TV with full coverage of the events.
