Sophie Wessex's espadrille wedges were the real star of the show as the Countness and Prince Edward attended a Commonwealth Games event  at the Arena Birmingham.

While on official duties for the Commonwealth Games on Friday, the Countess of Wessex wore a perfect pair of espadrille wedges that are the perfect go-to look for the summer.

These wedge espadrilles have been in style for years and continued to be one of the major shoe trends of 2022 that a number of Royals are obsessed with.

The Duchess of Cambridge has been seen in very similar shoes on a number of occasions and has a pair of Monsoon espadrille wedges that are almost an exact match to Sophie's choice of shoe.

Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle’s stylish Castaña espadrilles are other similarly styled shoes that come in a variety of colors and feature more support around the ankle with added straps.

Sophie Wessex's espadrille wedges are from the designer Penelope Chilvers and cost £159.00. While this is more expensive than your average espadrille, the Countess has got a lot of wear out of them and has demonstrated their durability by wearing the same pair to royal events for the past few years.

In a similar anti-fast fashion move, the Countess has also been seen in the stunning blue floral Peter Pilotto dress on a number of occasions. At Wimbledon in 2019, the Countess was snapped wearing this gown in a more dressed-up style as she paired the look with a clutch bag, strappy sandals, and her hair pulled back from her face in a chic chignon.

This pale blue floral gown is another perfect summer dress, which allows the Countess to keep cool in the heat while also not showing off too much skin. As shown by Sophie, the dress is perfect for dressing up or down and highlighted the Countess' unfailing fashion sense.
