Her Majesty has been inundated with concerned messages from royal fans after issuing a statement in support of Great Britain at the Winter Olympics 2022.
Buckingham Palace confirmed that the Queen has Covid on Sunday, 20 February, less than two weeks after Prince Charles tested positive for the virus.
The 95-year-old monarch is suffering from 'mild cold-like symptoms', according to the royal headquarters, but 'expects to continue light duties' at Windsor Castle 'over the coming week.' The alarming announcement comes just a few days after the Queen admitted, 'I can't move', as she leaned on a walking stick during an in-person audience at the Berkshire residence.
Shortly after the news of the Queen's Covid went public, the Royal Family updated its Instagram page with an encouraging message from Her Majesty.
The British sovereign sent her 'warmest congratulations' to Team GB's Women's Curling team for their 'outstanding performance' in winning the first Gold Medal for the country at the Beijing Winter Olympics at the weekend. In traditional social media style, the Queen signed her name as 'Elizabeth R'—a nod to the Latin word, 'regina', which translates to 'queen'.
It didn't take long for Her Majesty's comment section to be flooded with messages of support, many of which were written by concerned royal fans.
"Please get well soon! We are so worried. Love from 🇨🇦 ❤️#godsavethequeen," one US-based follower wrote.
Others were quick to praise the monarch—who celebrated her Platinum Jubilee 2022 earlier this month—for continuing her royal duties in spite of the diagnosis.

The Queen's health is currently being monitored by a team of Royal Household physicians led by her personal doctor, Professor Huw Thomas. She has already been vaccinated and received a booster shot, and is now following Covid self-isolation guidelines to protect herself and others. It's understood that she may be treated with anti-viral drugs, Ronapreve and Molnupiravir, to minimize the risk of severe illness.
