The Queen has welcomed a sweet new family member that just so happens to be named after her.

  • The Queen has brought in a new addition to her brood of pooches, welcoming a new puppy who almost has the same name as her.
  • Her Majesty, who marked her Platinum Jubilee at the weekend, is believed to have vowed to not take in any more four-legged friends—but seemingly couldn't resist her new furry family member.
  • This royal news comes after it was revealed that Kate Middleton was given a stark warning by Camilla to keep her marriage to William from breaking down.

The Queen has added a four-year-old, award-winning dog to her collection of canines, with Cocker Spaniel, Lissy, taking the number of dogs currently owned by Her Majesty to four.

The long-reigning monarch is famously a fan of corgis and dorgis (which are a mix of dachshund and corgi) and is currently dog mom to Candy, Muick and a new corgi puppy bought last year following the loss of her puppy, Fergus.

However, the Queen has now taken a leaf out of Kate Middleton and Prince William's book, as well as James Middleton's.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge recently added a new cocker spaniel to their family following the death of their late spaniel Lupo in 2020.

Meanwhile, Kate's brother James has an entire troop of cocker spaniels, regularly sharing adorable pupdates on social media.

The Queen's new family member, Lissy, is a pedigree champion having recently taken the crown at the Kennel Club Cocker Spaniel Championship to become an award-winning gun dog, which is a pooch that retrieves the game during hunting.

Lissy's trainer and handler Ian Openshaw opened up on the doggy's best traits and she sounds perfect for Her Majesty, who has plenty of open space at her sprawling country homes Windsor Castle, the Sandringham Estate and Balmoral Castle

"Lissy has always been a very good dog, excellent at all working elements, and she is particularly fantastic on a runner," he said.

"She used to be a bit of a monkey when she was younger, but she has really come into her own now. She is a great all-rounder."
