On the Kensington Royal Instagram, Prince William made a video that has revealed a sentimental memento he keeps on his desk.
• Prince William keeps a unique item on his desk at Kensington Palace.
• Fans think that this item indicates the Prince’s softer side and love for his wife the Duchess of Cambridge.
The Kensington Royal Instagram posted a video to thank “the medical staff, porters, cleaners, volunteers, pharmacists, administrators and all those working across the NHS.” The post revealed, “Since the start of this year, The Duke has spoken to more than 300 staff and volunteers spanning the breadth of the NHS’s workforce, from all corners of the UK via a series of one-to-one phone calls and participation in regional meetings via video calls.”
Eagle-eyed fans spotted that next to the Prince’s ipad was a Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) mug. The colourful mug features text saying, “Saving lives at sea since 1824."

Prince William and the Royal family have always had a close relationship with the RNLI and the Queen has been a patron of the lifeboat organisation since 1952.
Before the pandemic, in February 2020, Kate and William visited South Wales to support the RNLI. The couple visited Mumbles Lifeboat Station on Mumbles Pier in Swansea where the RNLI have been saving lives for over 180 years. The Mumbles crews have been presented with over 33 awards for gallantry during that time.

The RNLI mug also had special significance as a reminder of one of the earliest official engagements for Prince William and Kate Middleton. Hello reported, “in a sweet coincidence ahead of William and wife Kate's tenth anniversary, their first official engagement as a couple before their marriage in 2011 was at Trearddur Bay RNLI Lifeboat Station in Anglesey, where they were living at the time.”
On 24th February 2011, when the couple were engaged to be married, they visited the then newly built Hereford Endeavour lifeboat at Trearddur Bay Lifeboat Station at Anglesey in Trearddur, Wales. The couple learned about the RNLI’s work and Kate poured a bottle of champagne over the raft in a naming ceremony.
It seems that the RNLI mug has a special significance to the Duke of Cambridge and is a symbol of his numerous past adventures with his wife.
