Prince William and Kate Middleton to welcome new neighbors at Kensington Palace
Ivy Cottage, the house next door to Prince William and Kate Middleton's residence, has been empty since December

Prince William and Kate Middleton's gorgeous London residence will soon welcome some new occupants - but it looks like the royal couple won't have to worry about getting to know their new neighbours.
- Prince William and Kate Middleton are predicted to welcome some new neighbors at their royal estate soon.
- Ivy Cottage, one of the many private houses at Kensington Palace, has been empty since Princess Eugenie's departure last December.
- In other royal news, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will lose this royal family title when William becomes king.
Prince William and Kate Middleton will hopefully be welcoming new neighbors at their royal residence in London someday soon.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge live in Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace with their three children, right next to the currently vacant Ivy Cottage. Once used to accommodate servants, the three-bedroom house was home to Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank until their recent move to the more spacious Frogmore Cottage.
The empty property is likely to be filled again, but you definitely won't be seeing it on the housing market any time soon. Owned by the Crown Estate, the monarch's public estate agent, it can only be made available to royal family members.
Kensington Palace has numerous private houses
While little is known about the interior of Ivy Cottage, it seems to be one of the more modest buildings at Kensington Palace. With just three bedrooms, it is a fraction of the size of Will and Kate's sprawling pad. The duke and duchess's home brings a whole new meaning to the word 'apartment', consisting of 22 rooms across four stories.
In 2012, the entire grounds underwent a major £12 million renovation, which saw the addition of a second kitchen to Will and Kate's place. The project was called 'waking up a sleeping beauty' by The Historic Royal Palaces board at the time in a bid to rid the grounds of its old-fashioned reputation.
