Prince William and Kate Middleton have admitted they feel 'useless' amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine, adding that their children are now asking them questions about the war.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge paid a visit to the Ukrainian Cultural Center in London on Wednesday, as a gesture of solidarity with the Eastern European nation during this painful time. The emotional engagement came just a week after the couple shared a message of support with Ukraine President Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska, whom they met at Buckingham Palace in October 2020.
Speaking to volunteers at the west London center yesterday afternoon, Prince William confessed he and Kate aren't sure how to help those suffering in Ukraine. Over 2 million people have fled the country since it was invaded by Russia on 24 February, while at least 406 civilians have been killed, according to the UN.
President Putin's actions have been strongly condemned by Western leaders, many of whom have imposed heavy economic sanctions on Russia in light of the attack.
The Royal Family, which is otherwise known for its political neutrality, has also taken a stance on the issue. It was revealed last week that the Queen has made a 'generous donation' to Ukraine, while Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have issued a heartfelt message on the crisis.
"We are all behind you," the Duke said during yesterday's visit to the center, before admitting he wished he could do more to support Ukraine. "We feel so useless."

Kate and William also revealed that their two eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, have been showing interest in the ongoing conflict when they return from school every day.
"Ours have been coming home asking all about it," William said. "They are obviously talking about it with their friends at school." The 39-year-old added that he has to "choose my words carefully to explain what is going on" to eight-year-old George and six-year-old Charlotte.
Kate and William spent most of the engagement listening to the Ukrainian volunteers, who are working tirelessly to provide emergency aid to people affected by the war. They also helped to pack donations and learned about the services available at the center, before offering assistance for Ukrainian youth from their own charitable foundation.
