Prince Harry “might not go” to the unveiling of a memorial statue of his late mother Princess Diana, royal biographer Andrew Morton has claimed.
- It was previously thought that the Fab Four would reunite for this significant occasion.
- Now royal biographer Andrew Morton has suggested that Prince Harry may not return to the UK to see the statue unveiled in July.
- In other royal news, the Queen wrote ‘wickedly funny’ letters on behalf of her beloved corgis.
Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan may not have seen the Royal Family for many months during the pandemic, but it was previously thought that the couple would return to the UK this summer. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have now settled in their California home after recently confirming they will not be returning as working royals. Some have claimed that the Queen has a very special bond with them and their young son Archie – and that she keeps up with them via video calls.
There is nothing like seeing your family in person though, and it was believed that both Prince Harry and Meghan were keen to attend several important royal events this summer, restrictions permitting. This supposedly included Prince Philip’s 100th birthday and the Queen’s official 95th birthday in June, as well as the unveiling of a memorial statue to Princess Diana.
Many royal fans would no doubt be delighted to see the so-called Fab Four reunite for the first time since the Sussexes stepped back as senior members of the Royal Family last year. Especially after Prince Harry and Meghan’s recent shocking Oprah interview led to rumours circulating about distance between the brothers once again.

However, it’s now been suggested that Prince Harry may not fly back for this significant occasion after all. Princess Diana’s royal biographer Andrew Morton has exclusively revealed to OK! magazine that the original plans may now be changed.
“This is going to be one of the most publicized unveilings of a statue since Churchill’s statue in Parliament Square,” Andrew said.
“Everyone will be watching and commenting. Harry might not go because Meghan is due her baby around that time – he could be changing diapers.”

With Meghan reportedly due this summer, it could be that Prince Harry elects to remain in America with her rather than returning to the UK. In that case, it’s likely that Prince William may be accompanied by his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, for the unveiling.
“William’s job is a very unique one and is a lonely one – he needs the love and support of Catherine,” Andrew explained.
The biographer also went on to discuss how Princess Diana remains significant in the lives of her sons and their families. Last month for UK Mother’s Day, the Cambridge children each wrote sweet cards to their grandmother.

“Diana is certainly in their minds, as you can see from the Mother’s Day cards they shared to her,” he revealed. “There’s no doubt that the shadow of Diana looms large over the whole institution because William and Harry are torchbearers for Diana’s legacy.”
It remains to be seen whether Prince Harry and Prince William will reunite for this significant unveiling in honor of their mother this summer.
