Prince Charles has shown his “respect” and “admiration” for a very special royal guest as he stepped out in Durham for a major first.

As a senior member of the extended Royal Family, Prince Charles has been observed undertaking even more duties in recent months. Not only did he step in for the Queen at the Remembrance Service last year, but he and Duchess Camilla visited Kate Middleton’s former home on their first major overseas tour since the pandemic.

Since then he’s travelled throughout the UK, including to Northern Ireland where Prince Charles’ cake-cutting method hilariously mirrored the Queen’s, and North East England. Stepping out on April 5th, the Prince of Wales opened the Darlington Farmers Auction Mart and saw technological innovation at Kromek Group.

But it was his visit later on to Bishop Auckland in County Durham that saw him joined by a very special royal guest.

In wonderful photos shared by the Clarence House official social media accounts, Prince Charles could be seen meeting up with Queen Letizia of Spain. The two royals, one a Queen Consort and the other a future King, teamed up to open The Spanish Gallery.

This is the first UK gallery completely dedicated to Spanish art, history and culture and so it couldn’t have been perfect to see the Queen of Spain involved in this big moment. Both royals appeared incredibly impressed by the stunning gallery.

And fans were left equally delighted after being given this rare opportunity to see the royals of both Britain and Spain out working together.

“What a pleasure to have Queen Letizia indeed! You can tell Queen Letizia and Prince Charles respect and admire each other 🙌”, one fan declared upon seeing the photographs capturing this important moment.

“Love seeing Her Majesty with the Prince of Wales!” another person agreed. “I live it when the royal houses "mix" amongst themselves, considering the amount of history between the families and countries!

Meanwhile a third person echoed this sentiment as they wrote simply, “Love to see two royals together! This looks like a beautiful gallery!”

“Great honour to have the Queen of Spain for the opening....beautiful paintings.....and a very packed schedule for the Prince of Wales !” a fellow fan shared, remarking with awe upon Prince Charles’ very busy day.

Prince Charles' "respect" and "admiration" for Queen Letizia shone through and it seems many people would be thrilled to see these remarkable European royals collaborating and coming together more in the future. Already this year Kate Middleton delighted fans when she met up with Queen Margrethe and Crown Princess Mary on Denmark during her visit to Copenhagen.

Whilst Queen Letizia and her husband King Felipe of Spain attended the recent memorial for Prince Philip held at Westminster Abbey.
