Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla to undertake major overseas trip to Kate Middleton’s former home
Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla will travel to the Middle East in November
Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla are set to undertake their first major overseas tour in almost two years and it will include a visit to Kate Middleton’s childhood home.
- The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall will travel to the Middle East in November for their first major international visit since the pandemic.
- Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla's overseas trip will begin in Jordan, where Kate Middleton spent several happy years as a child.
- This royal news comes as it was revealed Princess of Wales would have hated Kristen Stewart as Diana in upcoming film Spencer.
Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla will travel to the Middle East in November for their first major overseas trip since the Covid-19 pandemic began. Their exciting travel news comes as Prince William and Kate Middleton headed on vacation with their three children, their destination a matter of great speculation. Meanwhile, the Duchess and Prince Charles, who is first in the royal line of succession, have delighted fans this year with tours of Wales and the South West of England.
Now Clarence House has shared details of their upcoming international visit, revealing that they will be starting out in their daughter-in-law Kate’s former home. Their statement declared, “At the request of the British Government, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will visit The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and The Arab Republic of Egypt from 16th - 19th November.”

Whilst the Evening Standard reports that Chris Fitzgerald, Prince Charles’ deputy private secretary, has said that their Middle Eastern visit will focus on powerful themes such as climate change, inter-faith dialogue, female empowerment and how to preserve cultural heritage.
“Their royal highnesses will first travel to Jordan, where they will celebrate both Jordan’s own centenary and 100 years of the UK-Jordan bilateral relationship,” he reportedly explained.
Chris continued, “Their royal highnesses’ visit to Egypt comes as the UK holds the Cop presidency and Egypt has been nominated to assume the Cop27 presidency in 2022. In this decisive decade for climate action, the next 12 months is therefore expected to see a significant co-operation between the UK and Egypt. Indeed, both visits will have a major focus on addressing the climate crisis.”
Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla’s overseas trip won’t be the first time they have visited Egypt or Jordan, having visited in 2006 and 2013 respectively. Whilst, this year, Queen Rania of Jordan had the honor of being one of the Earthshot Prize 2021 judges alongside Prince William.

But it’s Kate Middleton who perhaps has the strongest connection to Jordan, having lived there for several years during childhood. At this time her father Michael Middleton worked for British Airways and he and his wife Carole and Kate Middleton’s siblings James and Pippa moved out to the beautiful country for two years between 1984-86.
When the Duke of Cambridge visited Jordan in 2018, he even recreated an adorable Middleton family photograph taken at an archaeological site, Jerash, which was later posted side-by-side with the original.

At the time of her husband’s visit, Kate Middleton was on maternity leave after welcoming their third child, Prince Louis. Whilst it’s not known when Kate might return to Jordan herself, Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla’s upcoming important visit is one she will likely want to hear all about.
