Kate Middleton's latest charity engagement is close to her heart and sees her team up with a sporting legend

Kate Middleton's latest charity event will see the Duchess team up with Roger Federer as she raises money for two of the charities that she works for as a Patron.

It has just been announced that the Duchess of Cambridge and the Laver Cup have teamed up for a charitable organization to help support two important charities. The Laver Cup was co-founded by Roger Federer and the event will see the Duchess and Roger work together for a good cause. 

The main charitable event is the Laver Cup Open Practice Day, and will take place on Thursday 22nd September at The O2 in London. This event will allow tennis fans to watch Roger Federer and other Team Europe and Team World tennis players take their final practice on the court. 

Roger Federer said on Twitter that he was delighted to be teaming up with Catherine for this event. "Excited to announce that Laver Cup is partnering with The Duchess of Cambridge this year to raise funds for two incredible charities - @actionforchildrenuk and the @LTA Tennis Foundation. Thank you for your support, and I look forward to seeing you in London!" said Roger.

The tickets go on sale on Monday 22nd August and will support Action for Children and the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), whose charitable arm is the LTA Tennis Foundation.

Duchess Catherine is the patron of these two charities which are very close to her heart. Tennis has been one of Kate Middleton's hobbies since she was a child, and as a member of the Royal Family, the Duchess has become known as the Children's Princess by fans who have been quick to spot her connection with the younger generation.

Ahead of this event, the Laver Cup will host a day of tennis in East London for children and young adults who are part of the LTA Serves program. This will help children from a variety of different backgrounds get involved in tennis. 

Speaking about this project, a spokesperson for the Laver Cup said, "The Laver Cup is committed to supporting community initiatives impacting young people in each city it visits and the collaboration with Action for Children and the LTA was initiated by a recommendation from The Duchess. Her Royal Highness is passionate about supporting grassroots tennis and encouraging young people from all backgrounds to become involved in the sport."
