Under normal conditions, the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral would be a huge event and thousands of mourners would have come to the UK to pay their respects. However, due to the pandemic, the royal funeral can only host 30 guests. For this reason, Prime Minister Boris Johnson will not be able to attend the funeral, as is customary.
Although this event will be very different from the usual Royal funeral, it will still be televised so that the nation can pay its respects. Here is how you can watch the event, from anywhere in the world.
How can I watch the funeral in the UK?
In the UK, the event will be broadcasted on various different channels. BBC, Sky, and ITN will all be broadcasting the event at 3pm GMT.
15 minutes before the ceremony at 2:45pm, there will be a ceremonial procession inside the grounds of Windsor Castle. The Duke's body will be transported to the Chapel as various members of the Royal family walk behind the vehicle.
The ceremony will then begin at 3pm.

At 3pm, when the funeral begins, there will be a moment of silence in tribute to Prince Philip.

Where is Prince Philip’s funeral taking place?
The Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral is taking place at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.
This chapel is very special to the royal family and has also been the location for various royal weddings. Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank married in St George’s in October 2019, and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, and Sophie Rhys-Jones were also married there in 1999.
This chapel is also the burial place for many historic monarchs. Henry VIII and Charles I, are both buried underneath the choir pit, as is Henry VIII’s third wife, Jane Seymour.

Current lockdown restrictions in the UK that were enacted on 12th April 2021 state that only 30 people may attend a funeral. It is thought that only members of the immediate Royal family will attend the event.
Prince William and Kate's children will not be in attendance for this funeral. Prince Harry has returned to the UK to attend the funeral, but he has left his pregnant wife, the Duchess of Sussex, in the US as she is heavily pregnant. Many speculate that this funeral may bring the Royal family back together as they unite to mourn the Duke of Edinburgh.
