The Duchess of Cornwall was unable to attend a second royal engagement today over health concerns.

The Duchess was expected to carry out her first royal engagement with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex - a special royal first - but had to cancel over doctor's orders.

In a statement, Clarence House explained, 'The Duchess of Cornwall has been told by her doctor to cancel her engagements owing to a chest infection which has got progressively worse over the last few days.'

She also had to miss another event on Wednesday, a gala dinner to mark the 200th anniversary of Prince Albert’s birth.

As well as giving a speech beforehand, Duchess Camilla was due to meet with people involved in the library’s Emerging Writers Programme.

It includeswriting development masterclasses, literary networking opportunities, peer support and guidance in use of the Library’s resources, so is incredibly useful for creative talents.

The London Library was founded in 1841 and is thought to be the world’s largest lending library. Prince Albert has been counted as its first ever patron, so it was only fitting that a dinner celebrating him would take place there.

A collection of books donated by Prince Albert was also on display for guests, which dated all the way back to the 1840s and would be quite the attraction for literary and royal fans alike!

According to reports, the Duchess is doing everything she can to get better for the weekend, when she's expected to join the other members of the royal family at the national Remembrance Sunday ceremony.

We hope the Duchess of Cornwall is feeling better soon!
